A mechanic here, too. I absolutely love the idea I came up with, but I was wondering if there were a shorter (and maybe better?) way of saying it. Also, any ideas for the name of the mechanic? Thanks ahead of time.
I'm having a really hard time judging the power level here. Is it way worse than Chaos Warp, since you can't use it as removal? Is it a little better, since you can dig more specifically? What do you think? Thanks! http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/mirror-pierce?list=user#.VVAQMtpVikp
Greetings, Callous! I'm quite new here, I've actually just arrived over a week ago, and I thought I'd share some of my card ideas. Granted, I these cards probably aren't very good competitively, as this is my first time creating such cards. I tried to make them as balanced as I could, but there are probably going to be more than a few bad ones. Here is an example: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/deploy-the-drones-1?list=user#.VVAo7o5Viko
Hey, Callous, I know I only just commented already, but I thought you might give some critique on a created card I consider to be my personal favorite. It probably won't fare any better than the last one though. Here it is: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/counterbolt?list=user#.VVDa-45Viko
One last question: Is it okay if I modify Deploy the Drones to be a lot less overpowered? I know this comes across as kind of petty, but I kinda like the flavor behind it, even though the actual card is quite crap right now.
@stlinator8 What you do is up to you - All I'm saying is that blue is the weakest and less frequent token color and I don' think there is more than one or two "put ~ token(s) on the battlefield" cards in blue.
Think "Raise the Alarm", which is a white instant for 2, that puts 2 1/1 tokens down. I can't think of a single blue card that does effects like that off the top of my head. The most recent blue token producer is "Master of the Waves" and he made mono-blue tokens pretty big during Theros standard.
Notorious Throng is also... "recent". Well, it's modern legal at least. And puts X tokens onto the field, where X is equal to the damage done to your opponent this turn, which means that it's super weak in monoblue, and probably has to be played with a more damage-centric color.
The way to pull off a good blue token card is to make sure it is not unconditional, do something that makes it more interactive, that urges the blue player to splash/play unconventional blue (Master of the waves did that by forcing you to play a lot of blue permanents, which blue generally doesn't do)
Do you think my integrated counter-silence is too cheap? I thought requiring three different colors might make it worth it but I am considering adding 1-2 colorless: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/arcane-supremacy
Any advice would be appreciated. I don't expect you to respond promptly, I am sure you are busy working on your new set (which I am excited to see). Cheers!

Your card, your decision.

Mostly interested if this is worthy of any attention in something other than a deck that plays Loam.

I think it does what I want it to do, but I think the wording may be wrong...
Thanks!
