Imagination Contest

Hey TheFriendlyGeek here on his new active account!

My 20th (basically 1st) contest is going to jumpstart my new account. This account is all about inspiration.
I will make cards by finding cool artwork and building from there.

For this contest, there will be 5 pieces of artwork. You are to create a card from these options. You may submit a single entry for each art piece.

Here are the art pieces:

Here's our entry for artwork number two. (Updated card's name!)

Edit: Added a tribal buff since green Dragons need the extra support.

  • @modnation675 seems like a cool shift on squadron hawk by making it more tribal based. The part that really appeals to me is Creature type: Dragon SCOUT. I never thought of it being a scout lol :)

Yep, we felt it was just too adorable. :)
  • Two people use this account, Mercyque and Modnation675. We write whoever is commenting at the top if it's relevant.
  • @modnation675 Oh okay that's cool and good to know.

Yeah, it's no problem as most people get confused.
  • @zizick123 There are some technical errors in the design but the idea is awesome! Waiting to strike an unexpecting opponent by stealing their spell is a really neat idea. The title could use some change though. It is already the name of an overpowered card in cube in magic so you might want to change the name.

    @ImagineThat
You wouldn't put fellow cube players through that, would you? XD

(Phew, I'm safe in Commander... Oh, darn!)

  • Oh and that kid can fly too :P
  • @Cybernekit I love that card. The title, art, and text all flavorwise sync together. It seems balanced and it always draws you more than you discard. The madness cost really gives another flexible addition. I would probably see this in some modern deck.

What are everyone's opinions on adding Scout to the "As long as" ability on Herd of Dragons? Would it still fit the theme, as I want to make it more viable?

Edit: Would it make the rules text feel too bulky as well?
  • @Credius I like the theme of the first entry and the colors fit the color pie correctly. The flavor text is inviting and the card overall is nice to read. But read the text and you might find what is wrong:

Your opponent skips his combat phase.
What if your opponent is a lady planeswalker?

The second card seems kind of underpowered. It is a 5 mana color-hungry enchantment that can't be countered easily. It makes your guys have the same color and type which doesn't do much. What it really does is make it so that your Noble Heirarch on the field makes your goblin token green and a human druid. Also, the last effect well, affects both players so doesn't really give you an advantage.
  • @modnation675 Do whatever you like on it. Adding that wouldn't change anything from my view on judging but it is all your personal preference.

For the time being I suppose I won't, as the text reaching both bottom and top of the card feels bad for the uncommon rarity. (If only there were a shorter wording!)

Edit: I've updated the card to push it's usefulness to the Dragon tribe in another way since I had extra room on that line rather than the others.
  • @ImagineThat : The very premise of Colorful Insanity is in the title, it's insane and colorful. it forces players to adapt new strategies and new ways of combat.
  • @Credius Combat wouldn't change much

  • @Kajarak Four of those entries are slightly underwhelming compared to your Wild Hatchlings. I absolutely love that entry! The devourers that produce more devourers. There is awesome flavor to it. The hatchlings just want to eat everything and when they get interrupted, their other hatchling babies around them come to strike back.
  • @ImagineThat I am very glad that you like it. It is my favorite entry here as well.
  • @ImagineThat - Is this now closed for judging or are entries still allowed?
