Ampitheres and Coatls make more sense for an Aztec environment. W/G would be feathered dragons, while blue would be drakes. Also, the Ampithere is part white because it flies, and I don't want to break color pie that badly.
Yeah, I felt green matched the nature/nurture elements of the card while suiting the idea that they are hungry chefs. XD
If we change it to blue it would need a bit more re-designing for keywords in color. If we change it to a Drake, I'll reference Drakes or Dragons rather than just one of them.
Edit: Yeah, I also pushed it a bit due to the lack of green color support.
@brcien Yes, your drake is off color. Dragons can be pretty much any color, but drakes are almost always U/R. Again, drakes can be blue, and the other dragons of this set can be W/G. Bant ability-Maybe Heroic?
The art would be a definite yes. Balance wise, it was stated in the first post that Oppress is an Esper ability. Something in the ballpark of making it mono white, giving it just Oppress instead of the forestwalk and trigger thing, and bumping power up to 3 would make it a slightly worse Accorder paladin. That could be one of many ways of reworking it. The flavor text is dope too! Overall, besides the color gripe because of the direction I want these to go, sweet design.
Bant is up and rolling, thank you guys!! So I hold what I believe to be an interesting view on Grixis. Alara took it as elemental zombies which has seemed to be continued by cards like Nekusar, but I think there could be another side to it. I think of Grixis with the idea that it is like Izzet, but with ambition towards a goal. I think Suspend fits that idea and the Prophecy part of their culture. Suspend has never been lower than an 8 on the Storm scale, but it seems like it fits well. Your thoughts? Is it too Cliche and does it fit? Could something else do better?
@brcien Thank you for your feedback. I intend to make him green instead. But I was wondering what keyword to give to dudes living in the jungle, since, as I understood in your initial post, you associate Ravenous to Naya (mainly green). Having Ravenous Tribesmen is not very flavorful, unless they are really uncivilized, savage guys (which is quite the cliché). And, unfortunatly, I am not sure what other Naya-ish keyword to use.
@Undella2 I think Natural could be a good keyword, probably with something to do with with lands. Something that would seem good with @ASubleGhost card?
Well hopefully you're not doing a basics matters theme as that means you cant do multicolored uncommons, as well as tricolor decks. Which some of you have proposed.
Maybe: Natural (talent/gift/etc?) - Whenever [trigger event], you may reveal any number of Land cards from your hand. If you do, [effect]. The effect could vary following the number of cards revealed, or the type of land revealed.
An example (with my current test subject): [Card under maintenance.]
I think that makes less sense regarding the plurality. Which means it should be an alternate version of the ability word. (The other still being used for more variable effects!)
Natural talent - Whenever Tlacan Warrior attacks, you may reveal a Land card from your hand. If you do, Tlacan Warrior becomes unblockable until end of turn.
This is a benefit that we gain from it not being a literal keyword, an additional level of flexibility.
Revealing lands from hand. hm. That seems like it could work. It feels like it encourages bad play, but so much has been down with land effects you have to get pretty creative. It would definitely Define what bant wants to do though.
hmm this one is definitely a brain racker. We could do Heroic or Soulbond, but now I think Bant really needs something cool. Maybe revealing lands, but it would have to be in nontypical way. Maybe reveal from top of deck instead of hand. That still seems a bit boring compared to the level of complexity mod is talking about, and I definitely like Mod's idea to go off the wall
@brcien Revealing it from the library would be too much like Miracles. And pretty much everyone hates playing against a Miracles deck. If we did it from the hand, the Ampithere would fit in nicely.
Don't exactly know how the schematics would work, but tossing out the idea of cards that let your opponent take your next turn but do something pretty dang sweet.

Is that a group of dragons eating sushi?
If so, that's pretty cool.

Edit: I think Bant works, I'll just have to try some different ideas tomorrow. Not a problem at all.

Edit: This card is now obsolete. A new version was made.

What about a keyword that cared if you controlled 4 or more other creatures at any given time?

The name could also use some work.
Oh, I meant the ability name.
