*Entry* The Lost activate a weapon of unparalleled power to protect themselves from the others. The Eternity Engine is a big machine Gareth and the Lost made to pull to their aid items/machines of war lost to the blind eternities. By activating it, the Lost pull things that were lost to their aid and can unleash them on their opponents. This, of course, causes other things, and people, to become Lost which they can also turn on their opponents. And some of you may be wondering about how the loyalty of the newly Lost can be assured. Well the answer to that is that the very act of becoming Lost changes you on the most basic and fundamental level. It shows you the truth about things you never really thought about and turns your alignment to that of the Lost. There are many cases of people changing so drastically that they are basically an entirely new person. Yora, Matra, and even Gareth to name a few.
Something that pairs quite well with the Eternity Engine is something that Judiel himself developed after learning more about Exile from the Forgotten One. During the time since the Forgotten One was sealed, Judiel spent countless hours learning from (*cough* experimenting on *cough*) the Forgotten One and he developed a grand magic of sorts. Over the millennia of refining said magic, it is at its current form known as Breaching Infinity. *Lore*
When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be . I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with foresight of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that its center is really everywhere, it is within each of us.
To bring war upon the the people now is to bring peace upon the people in the twilight. Peace is not something you wish for, it is something you make, something you are, something you do, and something you give away. It is my conviction that there is no way to peace - peace is the way.
Starr exclaims all this to his zealots, in hopes that they understand that they must wage war now, to bring the fighting to an end. The people are close to the end, Starr has foreseen it. But to come out alive they must bring thy enemies and themselves to their knees....
*Lore* Force isn't always effective and is admittedly not the forte of the Lost. There are individuals who specialize in such a thing but the Lost as a whole would rather use other means. So for extra protection, Judiel and the other wizards brought the blind eternities to Mystik. This resulted in the natural phenomena known as the Aurora Borealis, or just the Aurora. All natural phenomena have some effect on the people or area caught in them. Many people die from volcanic eruptions while building and such tend to be destroyed in earthquakes. Tsunamis tend to bring a rush of life back to the oceans and seas while also causing destruction on land. However, some phenomena have much less obvious effects. Auroras show people a world or a time they had never known at a cost they don't realize they paid. They show what is both a truth and a lie; both fact and fiction; as well as what is fated and what is a possibility.
*Lore* Minz felt the end of the conflict was drawing near and felt obligated to witness it. He supports the Lost in every way he can but he has always been fascinated by endings. He is much like Amurinth in that respect. The difference is that while Amurinth tends to take a more passive stance, Minz has no qualms about manipulating things so that they end exactly how he wants. And he's really good at it too. Those who know of his existence fear what he will do, seemingly on a whim, just to get the ending he wants. He has killed many to protect his own ending, an ending he insists doesn't exist, and no one is willing to put that to the test given the results of all the others who have tried.
It is Flair's finest hour. He achieved perfection. He brought to Mystik the beauty of rebirth over and over. And while the Age of Rebirth has ended for the Knights, that doesn't mean their time is through. Rather, it has merely just begun.
First, his army needs a morale boost—and for once, that will not come from fear instilled in them. Rather, Flair will deliver a speech to dive into their burning hearts.
"I begin this delivery," Flair's voice echoes across the molten landscape. "With a genuine thank you..."
"And with that, let us march onward!" he finishes, the many thousands of Knights crying out in their first ever joyous roar. Through his sparking, he learned something that should exist at the core of the hearts of monarchs:
As a ruler, it is truly better to be loved than to be feared.
As Flair's followers begin their flaming march, he ignites in a brilliant display of color. Mystik's power and beauty course through him. It is as though the plane is celebrating his own character development with him. Fire dances and echoes around him in a dazzling display, until he turns to face the Knights in the distance. He stops dead halfway through.
The blaze around Flairs flickers before suddenly fizzling. What he believes to be Mystik's sudden interest and faith in him stops once he realizes that Skn'r'zr is crying. He doesn't know why. She just...is. He stares at her for what feel like eons before it clicks.
He has a promise to fulfill. He draws his sword, igniting it with a menacing black flame. Another time span that feels like eons passes before he plunges it into her chest.
Flair's sword screeches and glows a brilliant white as he pulls it out of the body of his advisor. She slowly drops to the ground, a faint "Thank you" escaping her lips as she collapses before him. The fire in his heart fades into nothing but embers.
He never told her how much he cared. Sure, he didn't need to. This final act showed it, but he never uttered kind words to her.
The embers in his chestplate begin to cool. His armor slowly fades from a magnificent orange into a sleek silver—something normal. While the morale of his army may fill the air with excitement, he does not share the same enthusiasm. He drops to the ground, realizing that he had done this all far too late.
As he thinks what he believes to be his final thoughts, the dancing flame reignites in an entrancing song yet again. It coils around the body of Skn'r'zr in a majestic waltz, slowly lifting her body to the skies to relieve it of being.
To truly be means to ultimately no longer be, her voice rings in Flair's thoughts, where he tosses the idea of peace back-and-forth.
Ultimately, Flair concludes that his abuse of Mystik should no longer be. With morale burning bright, it was time to make peace with his neighbors; not to fight or to burn them. As if on cue, the thundering march of metal ceases and flames rapidly cool until a sea of metal armor is all that's left. The spectacular display of being around Flair dances through the massive army.
It was time to reach out. It was time to make peace, for that is the only way one can be fulfilled.
(This card represents Mystik, not Flair. Hence its being 5-color. Or rather, it represents what Flair thinks is the plane, but is really just his fire now that his heart grew three sizes.)
Well, this is it folks. It's been a pleasure, as it has been for the both of seasons I've been in. Good luck to everyone, and I hope you all enjoyed Flair's character development as much as I did. I hope that I added something enjoyable to follow as he grew and developed with the season.
I have actually pre-made 2 factions for the next one. I'm thinking i'll go with the one I designed second because it's more interesting and I can do more politics.
I Have 2 leaders made, and 5 ideas to sift through, 2 are political, 1 is political and fighting based, and 1 is fighting based and 1 is subterfuge based. Gotta figure out which to use.
