  • I like that Idea.
  • @TrippleBoggey3
    I think it's not. You just don't block it. It's just a 1/1..
  • Gorilla Berserkers are whats op
  • If I make a Design the Dragon's Maze 2, what would you want the layout be:
    -Caverous
    -Normal
    -Keep

    And what would you want:
    -Long hallways and few rooms
    -Too many rooms (extremely dense)
    -Normal
    -Weird organizations
  • @TrippleBoggey I like the Design the Dragon's Maze idea a lot more than the Design the Plane of Harvest idea. And if you do make DtDM 2, I don't like mostly hallways (though you do need some), and I really like the weird organizations. I'm neutral on the other two choices.

I'm planning something like an @Animist remembrance contest, like:

In his life he never did, never made, only thought, yet unsucceded in his final will, the his one regret. In his life, he never saw, though in his death, we shall remember. Thus starting the:

    Animist Remembrance Contest #1 - 1 mana 4/4
    Animist Remembrance Contest #2 - 1 mana 5/5
    ...
    Animist Remembrance Contest #17 - 1 mana 20/20
    Animist Remembrance Contest #18 - 1 mana 1/1
    Animist Remembrance Contest #19 - 1 mana 0/0
    Final Animist Remembrance Contest #20 - 1 mana */*

@StrongBelieves, I'm pretty sure you gonna say something, as you do to all of my random comments, so I'll just invite you to "debate".
  • I'm going to say immediately that 20 contests is far too many and there is virtually nothing you can do to balance a 1cmc 4/4 and nothing you can do to balance a 1 mana 5/5. Going further (or even that far) is a bad idea.

Also, no one is going to participate in the same contest 20 times. What you're effectively proposing is that you spam the forums. Do not do that.

I meant "consecutively", like one after another but I get your point @StrongBelieves
  • Contests with substance far outweigh ones made out of boredom.
  • @Corwinnn, I just got an idea, not for contests, but for prizes.

You could give out a prize as a "overlooked" or "unseen" art piece!

I've saved up many art links which I have no idea on making cards for, but they're excellent art and no one else (for what I know) has used them. They could be used as prizes.

    What do you think?
  • @TrippleBoggey3 I really like that idea! I feel like that should be a first place prize for the a few of your contests to see how it works out before putting it on all of your contests.

@TrippleBoggey3 - That's a cool idea, but we have no way of really knowing if they've seen it or not. I've made over 1000 cards, all with different art, but my art collection is a lot bigger than that... a lot of times we save art for just the right card...

The very first challenge we had on the forums was this
    http://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/5/artwork-challenge#latest
An artwork challenge. I like them, because you get to see how different people interpret the same artwork. Sometimes they are similar and sometimes, they are radically different. The trick is really finding artwork that is compelling enough that people want to use it...
    So this...
    http://www.deviantart.com/art/The-Beverage-Bar-and-Ice-Cream-Parlor-Siblings-631863448
Might not be as good a choice as this...
    http://www.deviantart.com/art/150-strong-513423531

It's impossible to know what they've seen or not, so it's hard to know if it's a good prize.

@Corwinn, there is actually a way, if it's your art and you haven't showed anyone, or someone you know's art, so for it to be a certain prize, yeah it'd be a very good one if your getting brand new quality art
  • That is very true @viola!
  • I need a quick answer to this. Do you guys appreciate it when I give feedback while judging or you don't really care?
  • edited September 2016
    @TrippleBoggey3
Of course we appreciate it XD Because you help people to win!
  • I always enjoy feedback. Would be great, if you did that. It's a lot of work, but it shows that you appreciate the cards, the contestants made. Btw, sorry if I was too impatient impolite, asking for you to start judging.
  • Yeah, it's a really great way to realize why I lost or why I won a contest, and either improve or keep using the parts you liked.
  • Oh, and I also have another idea:

If the number of entries is few, you can have the winner be chosen by popular vote instead of judging
  • Can I have some prize ideas for my contest?

And I'm not talking physical ones.
  • @TrippleBoggey3
I got an idea. Thanks! You'll see soon!
  • @Tomigon, Sorry, but... Your idea doesn't appeal to me too much. Maybe it's just me, but the hall of fame doesn't seem like the prize big contests need. It would be nice as a side prize, but I just can't see it being the main prize.

I do have an idea, and I'll use your mechanics challenge idea. For big contests (chains), it could be nice to let the winners be able to do something in the next round. For instance, in your challenge, you let the winners pick the mechanics.
  • @TrippleBoggey3
Haha, it's a prize idea for everyone. Your effort will never be forgotten. Doesn't that sound good? Anyway, please don't use -Hall of Fame- if you feel lazy to judge. It might sound harsh, but sometimes your judging is irresponsible. At least remember the name of winning cards.
  • @TrippleBoggey3
Speaking of your "big contests (chains)", what are you going to do with all room sets we made for you and your Dragon Maze project? We don't even know how you decided the winners. So I'm looking forward to see what comes next. At least MrRasom and Corwinnn too. We've even tried to make it ourselves. But now you look like a contest token generator now. It's ok if you gave up the project. But at least you should let us know.
  • I think it would be nice if we do voting when we decide challenge for Reactivation Challenge.
  • @Tomigon - I love the Hall of Fame idea! It's pretty nice to think your winning card will be enshrined forever!
I think what @TrippleBoggey3 meant about it was more like he thinks it's not a bad idea, but he was looking for something with a bigger WOW factor that will entice every person who sees it into joining his contest.
I fully agree with remembering the card names, especially when they are chosen as the winners! It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to go and look for it, it's right there in the challenge, and it shows the Cardsmith that you appreciate their effort.
  • @Tomigon, I think I mentioned this, but maybe you didn't here - Not many people have been interested in the Dragon's Maze. I have many large PM geoups where I poll people on their opinions. They did mention wanting to do the Dragon's Maze later, after a did a few other things (My current contests.). I did netion that somewhere in the threads... Don't know where.

Also, what do you mean by "irresponsible" judging?
