    @CrimsonFox Yes, any non-hyphenated words in the type line are different types, hence Elder Dragon = 2 but Assembly-Worker =1.

    Not to answer your question, @Jadefire, but I believe a creature without abilities could also include reminder text. However, a "vanilla creature" is used to express the story through flavor text, therefore would only include flavor and no reminder text. That's my opinion, and I'm sure @jpastor will respond with his intent of wether or not reminder text would be allowed.

    Not a loophole, Phyrexian mana has reminder text, that's all.  So it's a vanilla creature in every other respect.  I'm only adding the reminder text as a courtesy but I could get away without it since most people know it can be paid with mana of the corresponding colour or 2 life.

    @CrimsonFox yep! As long as there's blue symbols and no other color symbols in the mana cost, it's mono blue. (Assuming there's no weird color-defining ability on the card.)
