That's awesome! I really like those cards. They are inspiring designs, and their creators contribute to this site a lot. It's a shame that we can only post 4 cards.. but maybe that's better because otherwise I would be still posting cards!
Goooooosfraaaahh
So, instead of specific cards, I want to recognize specific cardsmiths, and cards of those cardsmiths, who have had an impact on my time on this site.
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/lilibeth-abandoned-by-god by @TenebrisNemo was the winner of my Heavenly Host competition. It's an amazing angel card (my favorite creature subtype) that perfectly encapsulates the best parts of an angels desire to protect others, even at the cost of themselves. TenebirsNemo's designs are nearly always excellent and interesting to see, both from a card sense, and a thematic sense as well.
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/freedom-fighter-3 by @sorinjace was the winner of my 'Murica contest. Its a wonderfully simple card that just works well with great flavor text. I've entered a number of contests hosted by sorinjace (such as cowboys and out of this world), usually with far too many cards. It only makes sense to pick a card he entered into one of mine.
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/angelina-heir-of-asenthia-1 by @jonteman93 is yet another angel (I'm predicable), but I want to use it to highlight one of the best smiths on this site when it comes to creating cards with a lore behind them. All of his sets are thematic, and are well thought out to create cards around that theme.
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/sharis-endless-ripples by @LastJustice is just a nice card that shows LastJustice's impeccable art choices, as well as his willingness and ability to create completely new card mechanics (some of which are great, and others... not so much. lol). Definitely one of the more outside the box thinkers, who tests the limits of what the text box can fit in it, on the site.

This one inspired my love of rats in mtg and my rat commander deck irl

Tiamat by @TenebrisNemo
This one was for the original Tournament of Champions and got me into storytelling with cards
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/idea-broker
It taught me that a card doesn't have to be complex to be incredible. Sometimes it's the simplicity that makes something wonderful.
Bolide Dragon by @Faiths_Guide
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/bolide-dragon
This card is one of the many cards that were illustrated by their creators. But this card grabbed my attention with the vivid colors and intricacy of it. I know it isn't actually fair to credit one in particular, but this is one of the cards that inspired me to let people see my artwork.
Jack, Lord of Scarecrows by @modnation675
@murkletins, this is one of the first cards I remember seeing on Cardsmith. I had my eye on the site a good couple months before I made an account. This card hold such fondness in my memory as one of the things that gave me the nudge to create my own cards, so thank you.
Rakdos, Lord of Tranquility by @Animist
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/rakdos-lord-of-tranquility
This card is an amazing example of creating lore and story upon what is already made. It is the skill of weaving sequels and prequels. And are we not all building upon the foundations of MTG itself?
Ranshi, Tormentor of Souls by @Tomigon / @senbonzakura
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/ranshi-tormentor-of-souls-2?list=set&set=34523
This card, while it didn’t actually teach me anything, was the first card that made me feel warm inside, unlike any of the cards I had seen others make or that I have made before. I felt appreciated for the first time and from there I had more confidence and made cards with more purpose. It meant, and still means a lot. Thanks!
this and others
Honestly @faiths_guide is a big part of the reason I am on this website and continue to learn and grow from it.
Yes @Latinas got my brain pumping hard with Vryn ideas which changed my view of card design from what would be cool to what is fun.
I really wish I could remember the way to find the card sets that made me want to design in the first place, but it's probably been a decade since I saw them. One was an Egyptian themed set with a keyword "epitaph" that triggered every upkeep if the creatures were in the graveyard at upkeep and the other was a plane that was solid water with eldrazi sized fish.
I completely ripped the Territory mechanic I'm using rn from this card. Back before I even made an account I found this card and I love it. Something about the art and the flavor. It's all so perfect. Maple Sprite taught me the kind of card I wanted to make.
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/beach-party-tonight by @Corwinn
Beach Party Tonight taught me how to be a cool teen and for that I will be eternally grateful
Chaz is the realest.
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/coconut-dragon-1 by @Sorinjace
The fruit dragon controversy was my first big splash on this place to my knowledge and I definitely could have handled it better. The fact that Sorinjace, Dechujo, Aryanf, Corwinn and so many others came out and supported the trend showed me that this was a site I wanted to stay on. That I had found more than a website but a community.
https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/magnolia-the-braiding-of-life by @Modnation675
This card (but to a greater extent Modnation) taught me how to look at magic from a meta perspective as well as a flavor perspective. Not all keywords need to work within the boundaries of preexisting rules because part of game design is changing the rules. It's something that Maro says is hard to learn and I'm grateful to have learned it early on.
