I may have to reference the original symbols I got the colors from again. To save time I referenced the colors of prior symbols I made, and used the circular gradient.
Lastly, the design probably doesn't do any favors for the color. I can try a traditional gradient and see if that helps.

Photoshop: There are several ways to do step 3. A) Layer Style - Stroke. It's very easy, but not the best way if you want every corner to be sharp. Pen tool. C) Or this..
