The windy 1.8 mile trail to Hidden Falls passes between the enclosures of a few Dinosaur exhibits. Signs posted along the trail prohibit you from attempting to feed the dinosaurs through their enclosures. Observe them in their natural habitat, don't stop for lunch until you reach the falls, and enjoy a hike through the captivating backcountry of Muraganda Park.
  • Bonus challenges: Create a small wandering dinosaur for the park streets.
Bonus challenges: Create a card that creates Food tokens or a small treat artifact.

What you have are the equivalent of flocks of friendly walking fruit bushes roaming the grounds that you can pick a snack off of.  The guests actually provide a service to control their population.  Otherwise, they would overwhelm the park.
  • Prompt: Create up to two cards depicting public events that might happen in the park involving the dinosaurs.

Every theme park should have a parade down its main street to showcase the characters in their lineup.

@Everyone here are the rankings for Stage 2. Sorry for taking so long, but this last week has been a little busy for me.

1st place Jadefire. I really enjoyed this time around how your cards prevented creatures attacking in different ways, with Constricting Bridge being the final step of that with its last ability exiling attackers.

2nd place: cadstar. All of your entries were interesting. I think having a weather matrix to change the local weather is a particularly interesting idea, since it can potentially protect the park from tropical storms (such as the one in Jurassic Park) and keep the weather there nice while also keeping the dinosaurs in.

3rd place: jpastor. Your cards were all interesting, especially Monolith Alignment. Lava Enclosure as well was an interesting way to provide an individualized dinosaur enclosure.

The due date for stage 3 is Monday, November 15th.

  • This little bugger escaped his compound again. We've decided he's unthreatening to humans, so we'll let him run yonder to discover the land beyond time.

  • Time for another batch of entries. :)

Summer Hatching Guided Expedition Gemhide Raptors Sun-Scaled Frillback

    To be specific:

    • Summer Hatching ~ Park Event I (the little ones always draw lots of fans)
    • Guided Expedition ~ Park Event II (safe tour of the dinos' habitats)
    • Gemhide Raptors ~ Wandering Dino (they eat ores and gems, and are drawn to shiny things among the crowds of patrons; usually harmless)
    • Sun-Scaled Frillback ~ Food / Wandering Dino (imagine this little guy nuzzling against your leg to give you a seashell or fish)

  • @Everyone the third stage is now over! But before we move on to the fourth stage, here are the rankings and points. I spent some time to fully score everyone, which is why this ending is a little late.

1st place: cadstar. I liked all of your entries, especially Guided Exploration. I like how you involved both explore and treasure tokens in a faction that wasn’t really associated with it in the Ixalan block. I think Gemhide Raptors might be a little overpowered, but other than that, nice cards all around.

2nd place: Jadefire. I almost chose you for first place, but I feel like Budding Macetail is just a little too powerful for that. I enjoyed all of your entries, and it was a good idea in concept, but Budding Macetail seems powerful for its cost.

3rd place: jpastor. Peeweesaur is very cute. I love it. I also like that Hidden Waterfall’s ability is a very green/blue ability.

Right, now onto the next stage.

Well, we all knew this was coming sooner or later. Time for the dinosaurs to escape. Somehow they’ve gotten out, and they’re coming for you. Do you have what it takes to get out of this park after building it up for this long?

Prompt 1: Create a defense mechanism from the dinosaurs. How are you going to get all those small raptors off you, or scare off those big angry ceratopsians? That’s where this comes in.

Prompt 2: Create a way to hide or escape the dinosaurs. Some of these dinosaurs are pretty big, so you’ll be able to get into those small enclosures pretty well. Then again, their size can make up the difference…

    Bonus Challenges:

    • How did the dinosaurs escape? Create a card that shows that.

    • Are the dinosaurs going to hurt people now that they’re out, or are they peaceful? Create a card that shows that.

Due to the pause taken between the last stage and this one, you guys get some extra time. Stage 4 entries are thus due on Friday, December 3.

  • Bonus Challenges: How did the dinosaurs escape? Create a card that shows that.

Looks like some rowdy patron managed to rile up a herd of dinosaurs and start a stampede.

Better to make them stumble around blindly than to focus in on you.
  • Hi! I saw this about dinosaurs and, as I like them, I decided to participate ... I hope I am not missing any rules but here are my creations.
    Anything, correct me.
Prompt 1: Create a defense mechanism from the dinosaurs.
Dr Becca has said that the park's systems are ready to "rest" the dinosaurs if their numbers get too high. Please skip the part in the flavor text where it should say CO2 instead of Oxygen ... -_-

Prompt 2: Create a way to hide or escape the dinosaurs.
Nobody said it had to be a "good" way.

    Bonus Challenge:
    How did the dinosaurs escape?
I have no proof, but I have no doubts either.

    (I couldn't find a better illustration)
    Bonus Challenge:
Are the dinosaurs going to hurt people now that they’re out, or are they peaceful?
Really? I HATE THIS TROPE!... Although if they had been modified ...

When the ground is unsafe, it's time to take to the skies.
  • Two entries for now; maybe more before tomorrow ends.

    Impulse Resonator Vagrants Raiment
    • Impulse Resonator ~ The heart of Tenki (the weather control device), power is diverted from atmospheric manipulation to park defense in extreme emergencies.
    • Vagrant's Raiment ~ Dino escape item. Standard stealth cloak; the park rangers keep some in emergency supply caches scattered around the park grounds.
  • Alright, everyone! First for this round’s ratings.

1st place - Jadefire. I liked your cards this time around. Nuisance Sniper was a hilarious explanation for the reason of the dinosaur escape, and Blinding Blast is a really nice card that seems like it could see printing.

2nd place - jpastor. I really like Atrazine Contingency, since it looks like a card that would actually get printed. I think Retreat to Tree Palace could be reworked, but it’s a good concept.

3rd place - SMPrague. Nice way to enter the contest! I like how Feckless Security Guard and Runaway Stegosaurs were both humorous and played into the contest at the same time. Bio Control is a neat concept, although I think it would work better as a sorcery.

  • Thanks for hosting this contest @SpellPiper2213!  It was a good time.  Please put the likes on any of my cards that you enjoy and apply the feedback to the the two cards you think would benefit the most from feedback.  https://mtgcardsmith.com/user/Jadefire/cards

Congratuations to @cadstar369 on your win  :)
