The cannonshot fizzles and Wenkman takes no damage.
As the Dwarven Army (6/6 double strike) tries to attack Raulus, a rift in space and time opens and Raulus is sucked into it, disappearing again. The Dwarves look confused and move back, seemingly being scared to be sucked into that rift as well.
The Dwarven Legion hits Duucxejial first for three damage, then for 5 damage and then again for 5 damage.
And then the Dwarves turn ends.
As the last Gnome escapes through the secret door, Ser Duckington shouts. "The Gnomes are safe! We did it! Now lets leave! Hurry!"
"Yessss, letzsss leave!" hisses Reptilos "We should ...." and then he becomes transparent and is gone.
"Ah, not again", the shapeless One complains.
"Snake always come back" Graxx says "Not worry!".
"Less talking, more escaping. Please!" Squirrelica remembers the others.
And so the brave Adventurers flee into the storage room, which is filled with dusty and dry trash, very old wooden barrels and crates and boxes and with some barrels of disgusting old Ogre beer. You slam the door of the room behind you and use a wooden bar thats laying around to bar it. Those of you that are badly wounded got dragged out of combat by the others and stabilized to 1 life/toughness should it have been lower.
You hear dwarves hammering and hacking at the door, and in probably 2-3 turns the door will be destroyed.
Before you escape into the secret tunnel, is there something else you want to do?
Seeing little point in doing anything else at the moment, Duucxejial will focus on Performing healing as we leave. (Btw, he didn't take anywhere near that much damage during that last attack, since the Legion got -3/-3 before it hit him.)
"Alright then, time to say farewell to this place!" Ser Duckington quacks.
You move into the secret tunnel, but before you close the secret door, Ser Duckington thinks for a few seconds.
"Wait, i have an idea. I'll leave a little surprise for the dwarfs." and he summons a
into the storage room.
"Now we can leave. The egg will soon set the storage room on fire. That should give us more time to escape."
You then close the secret entrance as fast as possible, while smoke begins to fill the storage room. And then you run as fast as you can through the tunnel towards the sewers. After maybe a minute you hear an explosion and shouts. Did the Ogre Beer explode? You're not sure, but whatever it was it will surely slow down the dwarves.
After some minutes you finally reach the sewers, where the other group of Adventurers and the Gnomes are whispering to each other. You rest for a minute or so, but then its time to move on.
"Our allies are waiting at the sewer entrance" you tell the Gnomes and the other Adventurers. "Maybe they can help you." An old Gnome, maybe the Leader of them, seems to think for some seconds and then agrees.
You move back through the sewers, towards the entrance. From time to time you have the feeling of being watched but when you look at the watchers position all you can see is shady movement or semetimes a tentacle that retreats fast into the water. Whatever is watching you probably has decided that your group is too large and that its not worth it to try anything that has to do with eating Gnomes or Adventurers.
Without any problems you reach the sewers exit, where already Demonica and some shady looking people or creatures from different races are waiting.
"Ooh," she smiles at you "You made it! I'm so happy! And you're even more than you were when you got into the dwarven fortress. Usually it's the other way around. Less people come out that went in. That must be quite a story you have to tell! But most important things first. I took care of Eldric and brought him to your hideout. He is still a bit weak and sleepy but he will be ok in a few days. And as i can see you have got your equipment back and you even brought my equipment back as well. What a happy day!" She smiles as she looks at the large chest with stuff you brought with you from the dwarven fortress.
"And who are you friends here?"
But before you can say anything the old Gnome interferes: "Spare your nice words. We know who you are. Your flattery doesnt work on us and you should know that we won't be making any kind of deal with your kind. All we want is to leave in peace."
"Oh," Demonica looks a bit disappointed, but then smiles "As you wish. I'm not your enemy and you can do whatever you want. I guess you dont want my rogues then to lead you safely through the city to the harbour where your ship is waiting. Yes i've heard of that, i hear a lot of things, you know. Well, good luck then."
After that a bit of unpleaseant conversation its time to say goodbye to the other Adventurers Group, which Bragrack has decided to join.
"I am curious... Why do people dislike you based on your race? Is it something others like you do something bad?" Wenkman asked Demonica. "I mean, you seems nice person, unlike Maxman or Heju, that is."
"Ooh, thats so cute of you saying that" Demonica smiles "But sadly my kinds reputation isnt the best. We are, you could say, a bit like merchants. We offer people something they want and in return we get something too. But being good merchants, most of the time we get a bit more than we give and sometimes people dont like what they get, even if its exactly what they wanted." She grins "But most people know that and if they still decide to do ... business ... with us, well its their fault and not ours." She pauses. "But be that as it may, i think we should all leave now before any Dwarf or Elf sees our little crowd here."
Then she turns to the other group of adventurers: "You should probably leave the City together with the Gnomes until things are back to normal. I could imagine that in the next days the Dwarvs will be quite unhappy about what happened." She giggles "But feel free to come back in a year or so when its quiet again. I always have work for adventurers."
The other Group of Adventurers starts discussing silently. And meanwhile even Reptilos is back. He must have phased back into existence unnoticed.
Ser Duckington: "That girl is smart. We should listen to her. And have you noticed her wings? They are almost like duck wings." -Graxx: "She fiery like Graxx!" - Reptilos: "Have you seen her skin? Covered in tiny little skales like a snake! And her eyes are exactly like mine!" - The shapeless One: "Looks dont matter and can even be deceiving. But her mind is as brilliant as mine!" - Squirrelica: "I wonder who that Eldric is she spoke of earlier."
A. - Alright then, good luck to you and the gnomes.
Raulus glares fiercely at Demonica "Nice tricks, succumbus. You sent us into a slaughterhouse of unending war. I shan't be following your quests anymore. You remind me of Burdjinns, always taking advantage of the unsaid parts of a contract." And then begins chanting in draconic some parts of a demon-warding spell in an Elder Sorcery book he read.
Also @LvB We fought so much, when will we get our next level up, if ever?
*Poof* A portal opens that transports Raulus to another dimension where he can do his levelup to Level 7, while the rest maybe wants to ask the gnomes or adventurers or demonica more things. And while doing so, after all Raulus realizes that Demonica is really nice and cares about others and that this must be the reason why everyone likes her. After finishing the levelup Raulus is transported back out of that strange dimension he sometimes disappears into.
If your characters have no more questions, everyone can do their level up to level 7 now.
- Your characters power or toughness is increased by 1.
- Your mana is increased by 2 or by whatever your chosen path says. (Body/Mind/Versatility).
- Create a RARE level 7 spell for your character. It must cost 7 mana or it may have an X in its casting cost. But when casting it you must spend at least 7 mana.
- Create an UNCOMMON level 5 spell for your character that most cost 5 mana.
- Create a RARE Level 1 spell for your character that must cost 1 mana.
- Chose one: Keep your Level 1 common and uncommon spells, OR create another RARE Level 1 spell, but lose the level 1 common and uncommon spells.
RARE spells should be stronger than uncommon spells of the same level.
@cadstar369 Seeing the level is 7, it can only costs 7 or it may be X. You will have to spend for 7 or more mana, so meaning, it can have additional costs, but it cannot have alternate cost, unless you spend at least 7 mana. Makes sense?
I had to ask because your wording is inconsistent. "Must spend at least 7 mana" (what you wrote) is very different from "must initially cost at least 7 mana" (which you appear to actually intend). Either way, you've still left one of my questions unanswered.
??♂️…never mind. Here's Duucxejial's level up, choosing to sacrifice his level 1 common spell & level 1 uncommon spell for a second level 1 rare spell. This gallery contains all of his cards.
@kaoz42 I'm working on rather extensive lore in this regard, just heavily procrastinating on putting it out into the universe. ? Here's the cliff notes:
The Denkeeper is an immortal plant-dragon that embodies life and nature. He watches over and cares for all creatures of myth. Epics about him generally begin with how the Denkeeper, his companions (often called the Elders), and the first brood came upon the hidden vale in which they shaped the Blossoming Den. None of the first brood were actually his children, but rather the Elders’ children he helped raise; most weren’t even dragons for that matter. While all creatures of myth are called his children, it is unknown if the Denkeeper has any descendants.
Kodoku, an immortal poison dragon that embodies death, decay, etc., is basically the Denkeeper’s polar opposite in terms of his function in nature. While the Denkeeper nurtures life, one of Kodoku’s main duties is to ensure life is not too plentiful or overgrown. At one point, Kodoku fought the Denkeeper to the death, resulting in them becoming merged together into a Seed of Reincarnation. The Elders planted this seed above the Blossoming Den, where it grew into the Guardian Tree of Life and Death. After a thousand years, Kodoku was the first to be reborn from the Tree, where he chose to stay until the Denkeeper also reincarnated. Kodoku and the Denkeeper currently live together in the Blossoming Den.
Rekka is an ancient dragon from the Denkeeper’s second brood. That is, while he was raised by the Denkeeper, he is not the Denkeeper’s descendant, but rather a son of the first brood, making him a grandson to one of the Elders. Rekka has mastery over fire and meteors. One popular tale involves Rekka venturing into a frigid mountain range to quell a frost demon that tried to conquer the forests surrounding the Blossoming Den.
(Yes, I own all three of these references. This is all borrowed from a separate personal project.)
TL;DR ~ Kodoku and the Denkeeper are both significantly more important than Rekka.

May I replace Wenkman with Archie?
Raulus finally got better at opening portals.
And it looks like the dreadmaw met some dragons...

Oh, my bad... I understood it the second time I read it.
