  • Glad I can join. what is the next word we must forge into an ability?
  • Maybe we can last all existing abilities we've make and create our own set list of abilities before continue. Also nice Spellshards, a preferance to @The-DM one.
  • I LIKE IT!
I'll do it if I have the time, sorry, we're in a rush today.
  • Murderous Rebel     1rr

    Creature-Human Soldier   [U]

At the beginning of your upkeep, {Cardname} deals 1 damage to the tyrant(Whichever player has the most creatures is the tyrant.)

    3/1

    Tyrant Token(Similar to monarch)

If you are the tyrant, spells cost {1} less to cast, or, you can cast a spell by sacrificing a creature.
Opponents can't tap all their lands.

Interesting. But Selesnya is probably the most likely to have a whole lot of creatures down on the battlefield, and I really don't see G/W as a tyrant...
    Simic? Probably...
Great concept, though! I'll see if I can make it. With your permission, of course, @LordTachanka123 .

@LordTachanka123 here is my concept of "Tyrant"

    Devious Counsel  (1)(B)(B)

    Creature-Human Advisor  (U)

    1/3

At the beginning of the upkeep, each player who isn't the tyrant loses 2 life. (Whichever player has the most cards in their graveyard is the tyrant.)

  • @Bigballa2211

You may have to reword it. It seems that everyone can be the tyrant at the same time.
  • I believe that he meant "most cards" @The-DM

  • Also, I want to point out in the Ravinca story Selesnya was stealing the fertility of Gruul land. White should never be depicted as "Good" and neither should green.
  • Hm. You learn something new every day, I guess.
  • Or you unlearn something.
  • I got an idea!
    Emerge

    Sunken City

    Land-Island          [M]

    {t}:{u}

At the beginning of your upkeep, if you are under siege, sacrifice Sunken City.

Emerge-At the beginning of your upkeep, if you are no longer under siege, target player puts the top five cards of their library into the graveyard.
  • So I made this checker that might help you make good mechanics. Answer to these questions and add up points you got. 6 or more points, go for it! 0 or less, there might be some room for improvement.

Q1: Can you use that mechanic on at least two different colors, without breaking the color pie? (Yes: +1 / No: -1)
NOTE: Repeatability is important for mechanics. WotC doesn't make a mechanic for only one color.

    Q2: What card type(or subtype) that mechanic is for? (Any permanent: +1 / Creature: +1 / Instant and sorcery: +1 / Enchantment: 0 / Artifact: 0 / Narrower than those: -1)
Note: This is also something to do with repeatability.

Q3: How many lines of text does it have? (Three or less: +1 / Four: 0 / Five or more: -1)

Q4: Can you make a balanced uncommon card with that mechanic? (Yes: +1 / No: 0)
    Example for "No": Experience counters

Q5: Can other people get the flavor behind the mechanic?  (Yes: +1 / I dunno: 0 / No: -1)

Q6: Does that mechanic have upside? (Yes: +1 / No: 0)
Examples for "No": Fading, echo, cumulative upkeep

Q7: Does it work itself, without any help of other minor mechanics or types? (Yes: 0 / No: -1)
Example for "No": Splice onto Arcane

Q8: Is that mechanic a weaker version of existing mechanic? (Yes: 0 / No: +1)

Q9: Would the name fit and make sense in any sets? (Yes: +1 / No: 0)
NOTE: Bushido, Ninjutsu are only used in Kamigawa related sets, because they are named like that.

Q10: Are there any ways to abuse that mechanic? (Yes: -1 / No: 0)
    Example for "Yes": Storm

Q11: Do you enjoy making cards with that mechanic? (Yes: +1 / No: 0)

Q12: Does that mechanic really work? (Yes: +0 / No: -10)
NOTE: If you are unsure about this, don't be afraid to ask for feedback, you can use this thread, or custom mechanic discussion channel on CS Discord: https://discord.gg/kwdpMUz

  • @The-DM I have fixed my card concept. Thanks for pointing it out I would have never noticed it.
  • I really want to start a set with siege.
Will create a Tyrant ability later

  • Sand Raiders     2yy

    Creature-Human Warrior       [r]

At the beginning of your upkeep, each player who controls a desert goes under siege.

    yyyyy{t}:Target land becomes a desert.
  • I love siege too @EmolgAn

  • Maybe tyrant/monarch would also work well in that set?
  • Seems likely.
  • Like yes

  • Monarchy + Tyrant + Siege are really nice under action
  • Is there a special rule where a person is under siege and they can't be the monarch/tyrant?
  • I don't think that would be good. Imagine that just because you're in a war, you are no longer King?
  • Hm. Yeah.

    Vizir of the Dungeons 3BR

When Vizir of the Dungeons enters the battlefield, you become the Tyrant (At the beginning of your turn, this emblem deals damage to each opponent equal to the numbers of creature they have)

As long as you're the Tyrant, creatures your opponents control can't attack you unless they control pay 2 life for each of them

    3/2

    Ability name: "Incantation"

Ability: (3),(Tap): (put an incantation counter on this card. only activate this ability once per turn and as a sorcery.)

    Example:

    Card name: Hooded Ritualists (3)(W)

    Creature-Human  (U)

    1/4

At the beginning of the upkeep, gain 3 life. If this card has 3 or more Incantation counters on it gain 6 life instead. Hooded Ritualists get +1/-1 for each Incantation counter on this card.
