Waffle Wednesday

Disclaimer:

The community urged me, nearly peer pressure style, into creating a discussion named Waffle Wednesday. What follows is a product of my imagination, not to be confused with my personality... I did not create this to be rude or to harass any cardsmith, but instead, to shed light on some creations that have proven worthy of existence.

Rule #1

Take everything in this discussion with a light heart.

Rule #2

Please under no circumstances take anything personally.

Rule #3

Please do not add insult to injury. Leave people be once their creation has been shined upon.

Rule #4

What goes around comes around. Treat others with respect.

Rule #5

By participating in this discussion, you hereby agree to the terms of service and acknowledge that you may be required to provide a specified number of favorites to others.

Welcome to Waffle Wednesday!

We're going to do some digging in the recent creations feed: https://mtgcardsmith.com/cards?page=1
  1. Hand select up to 3 cards per week that you think are the absolute worst creations you've seen all week.
  2. Choose carefully. You only get 3 per week.
  3. Send your selection to me in private message.
  4. On Tuesdays, the waffles will appear  (one waffle for every card that's been sent to me.)
  5. On Wednesdays, I will post all cards that have been turned and simultaneously run my algorithm to determine if all waffles will topple over or if all waffles will be eaten.
  • If all waffles topple over, when I post all submitted cards, all waffles will simultaneously detonate, annihilating all cards.
  • If all waffles are eaten, you must favorite all cards you submitted to me.

More Rules

  1. You must provide favorites if waffles are eaten. (See Rule #5 above.)
  2. You cannot select your own cards.
  3. You cannot select more than one card from the same cardsmith in the same week.
  4. You must select cards from the recent feed and it must have 0 favorites when you send it to me.

oh I didn't know what this would entail. now I feel kinda bad about suggesting it.
  • > "The absolute worst creations...."

    Hmm. I highly dissaprove.
  • mine are already in lol
  • this is a bad idea

    there, I said it

    'contextual recognition' carries no meaning
  • @Usaername
    you are most likely correct
  • It is a bold idea, and right now it is 50/50, but let me just say that the creations being sent to me are absolutely hilarious. PERFECT!
  • Maybe I should have worded contextual recognition as "recognition, given the context"

yes. The idea may be bad, but it's bad in a funny way.
  • this is a prime example of "good in theory, bad in practice"

even if you think it'll go fine, never forget murphy's law
  • @Usaername I'm prepared to tackle any issues as they arise
  • If it gets too out of hand, then we'll have to shut it down. Also, my Wi-Fi just cut off, so I couldn't respond.
  • I chose cards that had bad formatting, bad wording, bad balance (imo), or all of the above. Didn't choose any cards from people here.
  • I chose ones where the Aesthetic was terrible
  • You all chose ones that made me laugh and surely will make others when they're revealed in mass. The only way this works is if I post in mass... because then no card gets a beating.
  • I also want you to all to realize the recent card feed is getting more looks than yesterday (i'm guessing) which is good for good cards... they'll get more attention.

  • come chat with me about this while I destroy humans in Planet Coaster

@jpastor I'd like to, but that image isn't linking properly for me. (Also, if it turns out you're RTgame, then callmekevin is better.)
  • if you click on the ghost it works
  • @KorandAngels those are fighting words

We need to chat about replacing this with my only remaining idea at the moment...

Come chat about it and give me your feedback

  • waffles do be like that

All waffles topped over this week. No faves will be given. All entries have been destroyed.

Honestly the only one I don't think belongs here is Roar in the Sett. Sure, it's on the weaker side and uses small text, but compared to the other aberrations here it's a well crafted card.

Also, some of these seem to be for other purposes. I think I see a 5E spellbook and a 40K card proxy in there
  • why was the shark token destroyed?
    I mean, it's just a token
