MTG Cardsmith Tournament 2022 - Open to All

  • Invite 2022 Set: Create a set called "Invite 2022" and add any 7 cards from your collection to it.
  • To join, say "IN" any time before October 8 and post the link to your Invite 2022 set. 
  • You can change which 7 cards are in your collection at any time, even during the tournament.
  • If there are any rematches, 7 random cards will be chosen from each Cardsmiths' collection for that match.

'Cardsmith League'-style 'Best of Seven' Matches, 1-vs-1

  • You'll be in a minimum of 5 matches.
  • Each match, your 7 cards go head-to-head vs your opponent's 7 cards. Example: Your Card A (Wins) vs Opponent's Card A (Loses). This counts as +1 score.
  • The order you put them in your set will NOT be the order I judge them for matches. (It will be random.)
  • First to score 4 wins the match.

Three-phase Tournament

Round Robin ➡️ Double Elimination ➡️ Grand Finale

Phase 1 - Round Robin - Friday, October 8
  • You'll be put into a random group of 4 Cardsmiths.
  • You'll have a match against each cardsmith.
  • The top 2 Cardsmiths in each group advance to Phase 2 on Saturday and are considered the Top Group.
  • The bottom 2 Cardsmiths in each group enter their own separate Phase 2, which will start on Friday if possible and are considered the Bottom Group.
Phase 2 - Double Elimination - Saturday, October 9
  • Cardsmiths are ranked 1-16 and faceoff in a double elimination bracket.
  • I will attempt to do as many rounds as possible Saturday. The rest will resume Sunday.
Phase 3 - Grand Finale - Sunday, October 10
  • Winners Bracket Finalist Match
  • Losers Bracket Finalist Match
  • Championship (Winner of Winners Bracket vs Winner of Losers Bracket)
  • Grand Finale (Top Group Champion vs Bottom Group Champion | Top Group Runner Up vs Bottom Group Runner Up)

Prizes

The four Cardsmiths who participate in the Grand Finale of Phase 3 earn prizes. (They must request a mystery box to receive the Mystery Box prizes.)
  • Grand Champion = Gifted Premium + 7 Favorites + The Mystery Box Featured Card for October + The Mystery Box blurb in the Monthly Blog prize + 100 Mystery Box Legacy Points (=+20 Score)
  • Grand Runner Up = Gifted Premium + 7 Favorites + The Mystery Box Avatar + The Mystery Box blurb in the Monthly Blog prize + 75 Mystery Box Legacy Points (=+15 Score)
  • Third Place = 7 Favorites + 50 Mystery Box Legacy Points (=+10 Score)
  • Fourth Place = 7 Favorites + 25 Mystery Box Legacy Points (=+5 Score)

Pretty sick prizes considering all you have to do is create a set with any 7 cards from your collection.
