Welcome to the Mystery Box 2.0: Endless Design Quest! This revamped version of the original Mystery Box Challenges is designed to spark creativity and foster endless fun for MTG enthusiasts. Whether you're a veteran smith or a newcomer, dive in anytime to test your design skills and uncover unique surprises.

What is the Endless Design Quest?

  • Ongoing and Infinite: This is a perpetual challenge—you can join, take breaks, and return whenever inspiration strikes.
  • Mystery Awaits: Ask for a box, and I’ll provide you with a design challenge and possibly a special twist or reward.
  • New Cards: Challenges will focus on creating new cards unless the box explicitly allows otherwise.
  • Accessibility: Jump in at any point. No strict deadlines—submit when ready.

How It Works

  1. Request a Box: Simply post “I’d like a box!” (or any variation) to start.
  2. Open Your Box: I’ll reveal its contents, which could include:
    • A challenge to create a card based on a theme, mechanic, or specific constraint.
    • A twist, like designing in a particular set's flavor or using custom art.
    • A reward, such as receiving favorites or earning special perks for your creations.
  3. Design & Submit: Fulfill the challenge by posting your card. Add your design notes if you’d like to share your creative process!
  4. Repeat as Desired: Once you've completed a challenge, you're free to open another box.

Spotlights & Recognition

  • Favorites: Every participant will earn favorites for participating, with extra favorites for stellar submissions.
  • Mystery Winners: At random intervals, I’ll highlight standout cards as winners, and their creators will receive a bonus reward.
  • Community Voting: Occasionally, I’ll feature cards for the community to vote on in special spotlight events.

The Quest Adds New Layers

To keep things exciting, the Endless Design Quest includes the following innovations:

  • Thematic Seasons: Periodic updates will introduce overarching themes (e.g., "Forgotten Realms," "Cosmic Chaos") for bonus flavor points.
  • Achievement System: Track your progress with milestones like "First Submission," "5 Boxes Opened," or "Community Favorite."
  • Random Wild Cards: Boxes might contain a wild card, like the ability to swap challenges with someone else or submit a previously made card.
  • Collaborative Challenges: Some boxes may encourage teaming up with others for a joint design project.

    Jadefire's Box

    Challenge: Design a creature card with the Legendary subtype that represents a mythical hero from a real-world culture.
    Twist: The card must include a new or custom mechanic unique to the hero's story.
    Reward: If your card gets 5 or more favorites from the community, I'll favorite 3 extra cards of your choice!

    cadstar369's Box

    Challenge: Create an artifact card that captures the flavor of an ancient, mystical object with immense power.
    Twist: The card must have a drawback to balance its strength.
    Reward: If your card includes at least two flavor text quotes from fictional characters, I’ll favorite 5 of your recent creations!

    TheDarkKnight1234567's Box

    Challenge: Design a planeswalker card for a completely original character, not tied to existing MTG lore.
    Twist: Their abilities must synergize with a unique creature type (e.g., something like "Sharks," "Spirits," etc.).
    Reward: Completing this challenge unlocks a bonus challenge box for you, containing an extra mystery!

    kaoz42's Box

    Challenge: Create a multicolored enchantment card that embodies the theme of unity or harmony.
    Twist: The card must interact with at least three different card types (e.g., creatures, artifacts, instants).
    Reward: If your card uses mana symbols from three or more colors, I’ll give you an extra spotlight in the next deadline highlights!
