@jpastor Hope you didn't bite off more than you can chew between card selection, notifying players about their card selections, pairing up cards between players for matches, etc. Sounds like a lot of effort on your end. I hope you get a lot of volunteers to help. I would, but I'm not reliable enough, and I'd probably do more harm than good if you counted on me to help.
Thanks for the concern! 😊 It’s definitely a big task, but with a solid system and some automation, I think it can be manageable. Here’s how I plan to make it smoother:
Simplifying the Management Process:
Automated Pairing System:
Use a simple program (like Challonge) to automatically generate weekly matchups and pairings.
This reduces manual work and minimizes errors.
Pre-Season & Mid-Season Checks:
Scheduled reminders to participants for card submission deadlines. (or not lol)
Auto-removal system if they miss these checkpoints—no need for constant follow-ups.
Judging Efficiency:
For card selection, the system can pre-select the most recent cards from each player’s collection, following clear rules.
Matches judged in bulk: Review all cards from each round at once, instead of one at a time.
Backup Plan:
If things get overwhelming, I’ll consider simplifying further:
Fewer Matches: Reduce the number of matches per week/season if needed.
Pause & Adjust: Take a break between seasons to reorganize based on feedback.
I really appreciate your willingness to help, even if it's just keeping the excitement up in the forums! Just participating makes a big difference. 🤗
Alright guys - the format is set for next season and beyond. Also posted on discord!
7 cards judged each week (most recent and in that order)
better, more creative, original, realistic, etc. card earns 1 point.
sum of points is match score
10 matches per regular season and 2+ single elimination playoffs
skill groups of 11 max
earn Deadline points by winning matches and placing in the top of your group / playoffs (these points accumulate on mystery box leaderboards for milestone rewards
Oh and my favorite part:::prizes you earn in any of my discussions are useable in any of my discussions. Yeah, that's right... you can throw faves at people... or bombs at cards that you don't want judged this week vs your opponent
I have updated the league description. Unfortunately, I can't update the main description of this forum discussion.

The Cardsmith League considers your 12 most recently created cards for matches. You are NOT submitting any cards for the Cardsmith League. It's passive participation!
How the league works: There are 4 seasons per year. Each season, you will be in 10 regular season matches and 2+ single elimination playoff matches (if you qualify).
How matches work: You go head-to-head (1-v-1) with another cardsmith from your skill group. All 12 of your most recent cards go head-to-head, one at a time, versus your opponent's most recent 12. (e.g. Card 1/12 vs Card 1/12, Card 2/12 vs Card 2/12, etc.)
How judging works: The judging team (anonymous) generally decides which card is a more original, realistic, or creative card overall and assigns that card a rating of 1 to 10. The match score is the sum of these points for each cardsmith. Card ratings may change week-to-week for cards judged more than once.
How skill groups work: Everyone enters the league with a competitive rating of 1200. Based on who you match against and the score against them, your rating will change over time. Skill groups are the top 11, next 11, and so on. The bottommost group may be smaller than 11 and division sizes may vary from season to season.
How eligibility works: As long as you have 12 cards in your collection that have been made less than 3 months prior to the start of a season, you're eligible for that season! (~1 card/week)
How prizes work: You earn Deadline points by winning matches and finishing in the top of your group and playoffs. These points combine with participation points from all of my contests and accumulate to earn milestone rewards!
Using Prizes: Prizes you earn here or in my other contests are useable in any of my contests freely. There may be unexpected bombs flying around in here So much fun!
A quick note (with the updated requirements to be considered active, the following friends of mine should try to create the needed amount of cards. I will not remove you from the league this late of notice because of this, though. You'll be in anyways!
