Iridian, the Omenslayer 20 – 12 Shareth, Uniter of Worlds
Iridian is a near-perfect mythic dragon: powerful, flavorful, build-around, and balanced. Shareth is fascinating and potentially brilliant in casual Commander groups who like puzzles — but as printed, it’s too rules-vague and swingy to compete cleanly.
@StuffnSuch - I can't figure out why you're duplicated. I see it on the admin side, too, but when I delete and re-add you, it always creates 2 of you lol
GG @Mellow_MC! I will accept your rematch. It should be possible for you because you're just 3 ranks below me. Generally, because the league is relative small at the moment, everybody should be able to challenge anybody.
Just curious, you mentioned in your notes each time that there were potential rules issues, which I've tried to figure out what you mean, but it seems to actually work perfectly as far as I can tell. I must be missing something, so I'd appreciate you filling me in on what rules concern is catching your eye.
@StuffnSuch maybe he means that it's not clear if they all have to be in the same zone or if they just need to be in any zone. If you mean the secondary option you would win instantly as soon as your first turn starts since Shareth is in the command zone and all other cards are in the in your hand and your library, which are also zones.
Hi friends - i wanted to let you know i am super busy as of late (organizational restructuring will do that) - however, if anyone would like to continue this while I'm away, all you gotta do is judge em - give the winning card a perfect 20 and just subtract a reasonable number of points from the loser's score :: then use this website to calculate rating changes :: https://www.omnicalculator.com/sports/elo
set the custom K-factor based on the score differential.
20-19 = 60 20-18 = 120 20-17 = 180 etc
it'll give you the new ratings and just drop em here (i'll update leaderboards when I'm back but we can at least see what's happening in the meantime!)
While both cards don't only come with great flavor and card idea, but also interesting mechanics, only one card can win this battle. Whereas March of the Harvesters could be mythic rare, Experiment Grows its Mind suffers from spelling mistakes and could have been worded better.
Despite this close fight, we have a winner in the end: Corwinn with his card wins with a score of 20-18. Here are the updated ratings: Corwinn 1468 and FireOfGolden 1119.
Hope to see you soon, when it's again Tower battle time! (P.S. I don't think I should judge a fight between me and one of you why I'd wait until @jpastor returns. Also if you have any questions or if I miscalculated something just tag me.)
Of course! First of all there is this apostrophe ´ on your entire card on the left side where I wasn't sure if this was intentional or a editor bug. Then, in my opinion, a MTG-conform card text would be something like this: Until the end of your next turn, whenever a player casts an instant or sorcery spell, put that card onto the battlefield instead of their graveyard as it resolves. It enters as an X/1 red Weird creature with 'When this creature enters the battlefield, it deals damage equal to its power to you.' under its owner’s control. X is that spell’s mana value.
Important changes for me: - casted & cost -> casts & value (never seen a card before saying casted instead of casts) - rewording the last sentence, it sounded very weird for me with Where at the beginning - making the middle clearer (from what I've perceived as the idea behind the card, I thought it is not important whether the card comes back from the graveyard or not which is why I find the new version clearer and more understandable)
But I have to make clear I'm not 100% sure about this card as it is really complicated to find the right words to make this card MTG-conform.
@FireOfGolden, normally you would play the card, do it's effects from top to bottom and then put it into the graveyard. With this wording: "put that card onto the battlefield instead of their graveyard as it resolves" the card would still be played normally and it's effects would also be done as normal but after it's last effect is over you would put the card onto the battlefield instead of the graveyard, so you still "activate" all effects of the card.
I'm not gonna lie I think I figured it out rather quickly –
We're going to merge this concept with the Mystery Box Challenges, but instead of the idea of challenging someone with just any cards from your collection, you'll be challenging someone in the mystery box challenges that submitted a card that deadline of judging. So when the deadline ends, everyone gets to slaughter each other

Phased in Time by FireOfGolden | MTG Cardsmith vs Klik-Nak-Nik by Corwinnn | MTG Cardsmith🎯 Final Score
Phased in Time 20 – 17 Klik-Nak-Nik
Phased in Time is mechanically cleaner, highly innovative, and perfect for control players.
Klik-Nak-Nik is flavorful and ambitious, but needs templating help to fully realize its great idea.
Jump into Darkness by Lurisauri | MTG Cardsmith vs Water Wyrm by Mellow_MC | MTG Cardsmith@Lurisauri vs @Mellow_MC
🎯 Final Score
Jump into Darkness 20 – 10 Water Wyrm
Jump into Darkness is clear, well-costed, and would fit easily in any standard-legal set.
Water Wyrm is unique but confusing, both mechanically and flavorfully, especially for a green card.
By the way, thanks, @Corwinnn! You put up a good fight!

Fading Stickwolf 22 – 16 Jumping into Darkness
Fading Stickwolf is a masterclass in common design: unique mechanic, synergy, tension, and flavor.
Jumping into Darkness is effective but standard; it doesn't surprise or push boundaries.
I'd like to swap Tree Rat for https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/experiment-grows-its-mind (Because I just happened to realize adding new color to permanents with devoid doesn't override its effect)
Then challenge both @Corwinnn and @Lurisauri with Experiment Grows Its Mind

Today we have @Corwinn on the left and @FireOfGolden on the right.
FireOfGolden challenges Corwinn with Experiment Grows its Mind, who's defender today will be ... March of the Harvesters!

May I ask what could I do to improve the wording issue on "Experiment Grows its Mind"?
Important changes for me:
- casted & cost -> casts & value (never seen a card before saying casted instead of casts)
- rewording the last sentence, it sounded very weird for me with Where at the beginning
- making the middle clearer (from what I've perceived as the idea behind the card, I thought it is not important whether the card comes back from the graveyard or not which is why I find the new version clearer and more understandable)
But I have to make clear I'm not 100% sure about this card as it is really complicated to find the right words to make this card MTG-conform.
Is resolving like "activating the effect" or its effect is over and is put into the graveyard immediately?
