  • Whose Participating?
    I'm in.

Shall we have self decided teams after all people have signed up?
Those could work, but team captains seems more classic.

Shall we have teams be chosen by team captain?
    Fine by me.

    Shall we have multiple rounds?
Only if the first is successful.

After each round, should teams be chosen again and switched with different number of team members?
    YES.

How many people should be in each team?
    4 to 5 smiths.

Since I'm not a loner and I want to join to, can I join and have the winner be voted (because entries will be few)?
    Sure.

Should I have all cards made in 1 set?
If you stick to a set per team teams can theme their own sets which will be pretty awesome.

Should all the cards just be posted separately (I wouldn't suggest that)?
    No.

Should we have a premium member in each team so all cards they decide on will be put in that set (They could be team captains, but I don't think there are enough premium memebers)?
Yeah that would help with logistics.

Should I get a good hearted person like @Corwinnn to make a set for each team?
Only if its not a hassle for said good hearted person.

Can the winner be chosen by popular vote?
    Sounds like fun.

    Should we name our teams?
    Yes please.

Most importantly, what should the contest exactly be on? Note that each one will be different.
Lots of flavor, basically a sneak peak into a brand new plane or something of that nature.
  • @TrippleBoggey3 - It's the day they hire all the storks
  • Thanks for all the advice @Everybody

    Whose Participating?
    Count me in.

Shall we have self decided teams after all people have signed up?
I like new people, randomize me! Though selected teams works just fine too since I'm a bit newer to the community.

Shall we have teams be chosen by team captain?
I'm fine either which way, as long as I'm tossed somewhere into the fray.

    Shall we have multiple rounds?
Probably not, especially with such a large card entry pool.

After each round, should teams be chosen again and switched with different number of team members?
If extra rounds are implemented, sure, new people more ideas!

How many people should be in each team?
Ideally, however many can evenly give at least 4 unique teams.

Since I'm not a loner and I want to join to, can I join and have the winner be voted (because entries will be few)?
You are person, you have ideas, I like your ideas, please yes.

Should I have all cards made in 1 set?
Could be needlessly confusing, could be a good organizational method, the plot thickens.

Should all the cards just be posted separately (I wouldn't suggest that)?
Chaos, I like chaos, but this is not good chaos, with you on this one.

Should we have a premium member in each team so all cards they decide on will be put in that set (They could be team captains, but I don't think there are enough premium memebers)?
Eh, I have little vested opinion either way, if we voted for "team captains" rather than have premium members instated from the start the votes would most likely go to premium members.

Should I get a good hearted person like @Corwinnn to make a set for each team?
Overworked squirrels get pretty grumpy pretty fast, he needs his beauty sleep too.

Can the winner be chosen by popular vote?
As long as the voting is unbiased, sure, I see little problem with this.

    Should we name our teams?
    Lawdy yes.

Most importantly, what should the contest exactly be on? Note that each one will be different.
To go with the current popular theme, plane or story creation, especially the second one, good stories = interesting designs.
  • 9 Participants so far...
  • Who else is joining? This thread seems to be getting a lot of attention. You don't even need to answer my questions, just tell me if you wanna sign up.
  • @TrippleBoggey3 - Looks like it could be a lot of fun, but I'm not going to be able to commit to it at the moment. I have a couple of commitments coming up that I'll need to focus on for the next few weeks, so I don't want to be someone who is just taking up a spot someone else might really want.
    XD
    Thanks for thinking of me!
  • @Corwinnn, it's okay. I'll invite you to round 2 when that happens.
  • Deal!
    (I didn't @ you cuz it's your thread)
  • @TrippleBoggey3 Do you Plan To do another of these as I'm busy at the moment and really don't have time to participate in this but like the idea so I wondering whether you are going to do another one
  • @mjaff9 This one starts in about 2-5 days.
  • I might make another
  • @mjaff9, are you joining this one?
  • @TrippleBoggey3
I would love to do this contest, however I don't think I have the time to spare for a team challenge as I have been reduced to hoping on for like ten minutes a day unfortunately

    Add @Krampiszman Please

Shall we have self decided teams after all people have signed up?
    I like random teams.

Shall we have teams be chosen by team captain?
I'm fine with that, as long as I can be a captain! :P

    Shall we have multiple rounds?
    No thanks.

After each round, should teams be chosen again and switched with different number of team members?
    Yes, that works.

How many people should be in each team?
At least 3, but we should try to get 4 teams.

Since I'm not a loner and I want to join to, can I join and have the winner be voted (because entries will be few)?
I don't know what this question is asking

Should I have all cards made in 1 set?
    No.

Should all the cards just be posted separately (I wouldn't suggest that)?
Each player should post a link to a set which they will include their cards in.

Should we have a premium member in each team so all cards they decide on will be put in that set (They could be team captains, but I don't think there are enough premium memebers)?
No. It should be a democracy!

Should I get a good hearted person like @Corwinnn to make a set for each team?
Maybe, but I would use @Faiths_Guide

Can the winner be chosen by popular vote?
As long as the voting is unbiased, sure, I see no problems with this.

    Should we name our teams?
    Yes, Yes we should.

Most importantly, what should the contest exactly be on? Note that each one will be different.
Give a theme and see how each team works with said theme. (NOT A MECHANIC. It should be like a tribal set, an artifacts set, a Pacific Islanders set Ect.) It should have the structure of Idea 1.
  • @RohanDragoon, you only need around 10 minutes a day.
  • actually probably less

    Whose Participating?
I'm SO INTO THIS! Thanks for mentioning me.

Shall we have self decided teams after all people have signed up?
I actually don't mind. As long as I get to make part with other people, it's fine by me. Feels kinda lonely cardsmithing with only my own thoughts in mind, the reason why I enjoyed Cardsmith 2017 so much.

Shall we have teams be chosen by team captain?
As I said, I don't really mind the criteria! Count my vote as blank.

    Shall we have multiple rounds?
Wouldn't it be better to take our bets on the first one, then see about others later? Seems a bit early to think on that.

After each round, should teams be chosen again and switched with different number of team members?
    I'd really appreciate that!

How many people should be in each team?
5 or less seals the deal. Make it an uneven number in case of group votes.

Since I'm not a loner and I want to join to, can I join and have the winner be voted (because entries will be few)?
    Definitely!

Should I have all cards made in 1 set?
I think a set per team would be better. And then, at the end of the round/contest, you link to the individual sets.

Should all the cards just be posted separately?
Not a good idea. People would overlook a lotsa cards this way.

Should we have a premium member in each team so all cards they decide on will be put in that set (They could be team captains, but I don't think there are enough premium members)?
    I don't think that's strictly necessary.

Should I get a good hearted person like @Corwinnn to make a set for each team?
It wouldn't be much trouble, as long as you link the individual cards to him.

Can the winner be chosen by popular vote?
That would be for the best.

    Should we name our teams?
It would be fun to have names around the themes/stories we used for each set, so yeah!

Most importantly, what should the contest exactly be on? Note that each one will be different.
Flavour would be the goal, while each sets uses a plane (whose setting would be placed on each set's description). I'd recommend using stories as baseline, 'cause focusing on a single mechanic/color for a set seems pretty dull!
  • We have 12 people here. 20 - 24 is the number I want.
  • im like, so pumped right now
  • Cool, 12 people is certainly a treshold: it allows us to do at least 3 teams of 4 people ^^ Now we're more or less sure something will be happening :)
  • Count me in. This seems very interesting and fun.

I don't have an opinion concerning the team building process, I'll just go with the flow here.

The theme should either be based on ... well ... a theme (like tribals, clans, guilds, shards, wedges, artifacts, ...) or it could be a war of planes (one team makes Dominarian stuff, one team makes Ravnican stuff, one team makes Phyrexians, or Eldrazi, etc.).

Should we already include Kaladesh (and what's with Amonkhet)?
  • I personally think it will be funnier if we all come up with a *new* plane, with name, logline, little backstory, mechanics, etc. rather than choosing already existing planes ^^
  • Yes, I just wanted to give examples to explain my point. Could even be new planes, that's right. But I don't know if that's not too much work.

@Feyamius I was thinking of the Great Designer Search 2 when I proposed this ^^ http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/great-designer-search-2-2011-03-07-0

It doesn't have to be very detailed, it would be up to each team to decide where they want to put the focus on. For instance, if you were to design Innistrad for the first time, you could just write:

    "Innistrad
    Unravel the madness!

A gothic horror world where humans fight endlessly against hordes of zombies, vampires, werewolves and other creatures of the night.

Angels of Innistrad are losing their mind, they started to attack the humans they were created to protect. Jace comes to investigate this madness, but the secrets of Innistrad are more dark and numerous than he could ever have expected. Luckily for him, he can count on an old friend that knows a thing or two about darkness and secrets: this is Liliana's plane of residence.

It's a top-down design on gothic horror genre and detective genre, with a strong mechanical emphasis on graveyard theme. The new mechanics are..."

I think there's no need for more than that ^^
  • Yeah, but I don't know how it is with you, but I do need a bit of time and effort to design such concepts.
