@Cadstar369 I said enemy's turn, not player's turn. Players still regain a mana at beginning of their turn, not enemy's turn.
Meanwhile, artifacts and enchantments can help to manage your limited mana. An enemy has 50% chance to drop an item when defeated, so out of 5 enemies, you are more likely to get 2 or 3 items.
Thalor grins at Hyousei’s observation, though his attention quickly shifts to the five dummies blocking the way. “Well, let’s keep things simple. I’ll take on the Offensive Training Dummies first to thin their numbers. You focus on shielding or keeping me in fighting shape.”
Plan:
Thalor will target one Offensive Training Dummy for his attack.
Hyousei will either cast a defensive/support spell to protect Thalor or target a Defensive Dummy if they have an appropriate spell.
Thalor cracks his knuckles. "Let’s do this!" What will Hyousei decide? 😊
As Thalor charges toward an Offensive Training Dummy, there is a loudly scratching across the ground as Thalor could feel vibration in the ground getting stronger and stronger. He turned his head and saw a Defensive Training Dummy sliding toward him at alarming speed rate. If he is not protected, that dummy will shove him out of the way to ensure Offensive Training Dummy's safety.
A Defensive Training Dummy blocks Thalor before attacking Offensive Training Dummy.
Confirm? (@Cadstar369 is still able to response, even if you confirmed it.)
Hyousei's orb glitters, a frigid white mist spilling from it and splashing toward the group of constructs. They intend to cast Chilling Mist during the enemy turn to nullify any of their attacks.
Anticipating interference from the Defensive Training Dummies, Hyousei expects this battle to be rather protracted. If both of them attempt to block Thalor, Hyousei will cast Mist Dispersion on one. If not, they will cast it on any creature that has more than 0 power during the enemy turn at any point after the resolution of Chilling Mist, prioritizing Aggressive Training Dummies. (Just in case they have any tricks.)
However, you must state what time are you reacting to what object and you will not regain a mana at beginning enemy's turn.
from your previous post implies that players would get mana back during the enemy turn if they don't save it to do things at instant speed. If that doesn't happen under most, if not all, other circumstances anyway then there is no need to make the distinction here.
@Cadstar369 Perhaps I chosen wrong choice or my error grammar messes it up. Allow me to rephrase;
Players will get a mana at beginning of team's turn. If they save a mana until beginning of enemy's turn, they will be able to cast an instant spell or activate an ability accordingly to the remaining mana they have. If they used all mana before enemy's turn, they won't able to cast instant spell nor activate ability as long as they uses mana.
Back to the battle,
As Hyousei casted a chilling spell upon the dummies. It seems they are frosty, it slows them down even more. As Thalor exhaled visible mist as air became icy, a single Defensive Training Dummy was closing in rapidly. Hyousei would have the mist in the air group up then launches itself onto the Defensive Training Dummy. At first, it seem it didn't flinched for a millisecond. Afterwards, it suddenly slows down rapidly as the ground is slowing it down. It stops at a few feet away from Thalor. It seems the dummy is no longer showing sign of magic... It's just normal dummy now. Hyousei seems exhausted from casting that last spell. Thalor then charges at the Offensive Training Dummy. An Offensive Training Dummy'd attempt to pull a wooden sword out, however, Thalor punched through frozen wooden sword onto to the Offensive Training Dummy. It falls away from him as it'd shatter onto the ground as if it was a plate that fell onto the floor.
First round result: #1 Offensive Training Dummy is killed, Thalor takes no damage.
#1 Defensive Training Dummy was put into my hand, so I put it back onto battlefield and takes a mana from its mana pool (Equal to its mana cost). It is now deactivated and will not do anything
2× Offensive Training Dummies remain 1× Defensive Training Dummy remain
Enemy's turn begins
#2 Offensive Training Dummy attacks exhausted Hyousei.
Yes, the progression and results of the first round seem fine! Here's a summary of the situation leading into the enemy's turn:
First Round Summary:
Hyousei: Cast a frost spell to deactivate the #1 Defensive Training Dummy, successfully turning it into an inert object. However, they are now exhausted and vulnerable to attacks.
Thalor: Attacked and destroyed #1 Offensive Training Dummy without taking damage.
Remaining Dummies:
2 Offensive Training Dummies (#2 and #3) remain active.
1 Defensive Training Dummy (#1) is now deactivated.
Enemy Turn Actions:
#2 Offensive Training Dummy targets Hyousei, who is exhausted and unable to defend effectively.
#3 Offensive Training Dummy targets Thalor, who is still in good condition.
If no changes or objections, proceed to calculate the results of the enemy's turn!
@jpastor You still have single mana, are you certainly you don't want to use it? You will get one mana after this turn. However, if you still have that mana then extra mana goes waste.
I'd like to remind that there were five, now there are three left. Four, if you count deactivated dummy.
(2× Offensive Training Dummies) (1× Defensive Training Dummy) (1× Deactivated Defensive Training Dummy)
I have two objections to the current chain of events:
Hyousei didn't intend to cast Mist Dispersion if only one Defensive Training Dummy moved to block Thalor, but the party has reached a better situation than anticipated from that misunderstanding so it's fine.
Thalor would take damage from attacking since Hyousei intends to cast Chilling Mist during the enemy turn to prevent the Offensive Dummies from teaming up to knock someone out, but Thalor only takes 1 damage during the players' turn (due to the Training World's passive effect) so he'll be fine.
Hyousei intends for the enemy turn to look like this:
Offensive Training Dummy #2 attacks Hyousei.
Offensive Training Dummy #3 attacks Thalor.
Hyousei casts Chilling Mist before anyone takes damage, reducing all Training Dummies' power to 0 until end of turn.
@Cadstar369 I am sorry for misunderstood, but the Defensive Training Dummy is indeed blocking Thalor however Hyousei deactivated it in attempt to send it to the void. (Which any "unsummon" spells drains its victims' mana accordingly to its mana pool. If the mana pool is not enough, the victim will disappear into nothing. Mana pool acts like forcefield against unsummon spells.) Unsummon spell prevented it from blocking Thalor, allowing him to take an Offensive Training Dummy out.
Perhaps it is better to hold spells in until Hyousei actually cast it. For this time, you may withdraw "Chilling Mist" back to save a mana. That way, you can use that mana to defend yourself while Thalor will take one damage and survives.
@Mellow_MC You can join anytime! Just not during battle, that is.
All you need to submit final legendary creature then you are good to go! (If you do, I will invite you in, even if you aren't present to response any.) Be sure to read "Create your own character" first before doing so.
@FireOfGolden when was this rule regarding Unsummon effects added? I can find no mention of it before your post above. If using them wastes mana, then I'm going to have to create an entirely different spell for Hyousei since they're effectively useless. Regardless, Hyousei originally had no intention of casting Mist Dispersion in the current course of events (note that they only wanted to cast it if both Defensive Training Dummies blocked Thalor, which didn't happen) so they should still have the mana to cast Chilling Mist.
That said, are there other as-of-yet unmentioned rules should the players be aware of that make this game function differently in such a way that it would affect decisions/designs?
Hyousei takes no damage because their static ability gives the Offensive Training Dummy attacking them an additional -1/-0. (The Offensive Training Dummy attacking Hyousei is a 2/1 with +1/+0 from Lightly Strike, -2/-0 from Chilling Mist, and -1/-0 from Hyousei, which makes it a 0/1.)
The Offensive Training Dummies casting Lightly Strike triggers the condition Hyousei set for casting Mist Dispersion (any of them having power greater than 0 after Chilling Mist resolves), so they will use it on one of the Offensive Training Dummies attacking Thalor. Thus Thalor only takes 1 damage from attacks and won't lose any life.
It appears I misinterpreted your original statement regarding how Unsummon effects work. (Though they're still difficult to justify using over other effects.) Regardless, there is no need to withdraw Hyousei's actions and start over since this is how they were written initially.
@Cadstar369 My bad, I forget to include Hyousei's ability.
Understood, I will withdraw that out. Which leaves only two Offensive Training Dummies and one Defensive Training Dummy (And deactivated Defensive Training Dummy).
@jpastor Hyousei is already using their mana on Chilling Mist. Thalor hasn't spent his mana on anything during either turn. On a separate note, blue doesn't get damage prevention; that is virtually exclusively white's purview.
@jpastor Blue user is unable to prevent damage similar as white user does. They just do it differently way; - They can reduce target creature's power and/or toughness to make it easier killable. (Green can increase power/toughness, but blue cannot at all.) - They can stop the creature attacking at all in a few ways, such as returning it to its owner hand (Unsummon effect), having it tapped before attack is even declared (Drain effect), etc. (White can prevent damage directly while blue cannot prevent damage directly but indirectly.)
Ideally, Frost Ward can prefer as "Until the end of turn, creatures that attack target creature deals damage after target creature dealt damage." That could help Thalor to avoid damage while does damage to Offensive Training Dummy then it dies before it could do damage back to Thalor. @Cadstar369, does my view on "Frost Ward" looking right or some grammar must be made edited?
Either way, if Thalor and Hyousei do nothing for this turn, each will take 1 damage and survives. The same cannot be said for both Offensive Training Dummies.
Defensive Training Dummy may be spared or be killed because it has no purpose as all Offensive Training Dummies are slained. That is up to Thalor and Hyousei.
Team won this battle! They earned 10 EXP, items dropped by the dummies can be obtained or discarded; DEFENSIVE TRAINING DUMMY'S WOODEN SHIELD
DTD's Wooden Shield - Token Artifact Color: N/A, Mana: N/A, Rarity: Common "(0): Prevent 1 damage would be dealt to equipped creature this turn. This ability can be only activated once a turn."
OFFENSIVE TRAINING DUMMY'S WOODEN SWORD
OTD's Wooden Sword - Token Artifact Color: N/A, Mana: N/A, Rarity: Common "(0): Equipped creature deals 1 damage to target attacking or defending creature. This ability can be only activated once a turn."
2× WHEATS
Wheat - Token Artifact Color: N/A, Mana: N/A, Rarity: Common "{t}, Sacifice this artifact: Target creature gets +0/+1 until the end of turn."
@FireOfGolden your take on Frost Ward roughly equates to:
Target creature gains first strike. Creatures blocking or blocked by that creature lose first strike and can’t have or gain first strike until end of combat.
which is a white effect. One way such a spell could potentially be worded is:
Target creature gets +0/+3 until end of turn. Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to it this turn.
though even this would be more common in white than blue. @jpastor Hyousei is willing to let Thalor have first pick at the equipment, but would prefer to take the Wooden Sword. (They'll also pick up any consumables Thalor doesn't want.)
@FireOfGolden is there any limitation on inventory capacity/equipment slots? Hyousei's strategy will be heavily dependent on the actions of other party members until they get a couple skill points, so they'll wait for Thalor's actions again.
@Cadstar369 Since Thalor and Hyousei doesn't have backpack or any sort of that, the capacity of inventory will be 5.
The equipped items doesn't take up inventory capacity. A person can only equip the number of following items: Amulet - 1 Headgear Bodygear - 1 Cloak/Cape - 1 Feetgear - 1 Hand - 1 Ring - 3 One-Handed Gear - 2 or Two-Handed Gear 1 (Equipper may use one One-Handed Gear and one Two-Handed Gear. However, Two-Handed Gear will be less effectiveness from this. This goes same for equipper using two Two-Handed Gears which both will be less effectiveness.)
@FireOfGolden Hyousei is prepared to solo this fight if they have to, it's just going to be rather long and tedious. I'll post their intentions for the first turn in a few hours if nobody else joins by then.
@Mellow_MC Kuma should be monocolored, since adding a color to a character costs a skill point and we only get those by defeating bosses. (I made the same mistake with my initial design for Hyousei. 😅)
I'll change this if someone else joins in soon, but for now here's Hyousei's general plan:
Pick up all previous drops, equipping both Wooden items.
Cast Frost Over during the enemy turn so they can't deal damage to Hyousei.
Activate the ability of Training Dummy's Wooden Sword to deal 1 damage to an Offensive Training Dummy when it attacks Hyousei.
Cast Interfere if the Spellbound Knight Armor casts a spell that would lead to Hyousei losing life.
Activate the ability of Training Dummy's Wooden Shield if necessary. (Though this is unlikely due to Frost Over.)
Repeat steps 2~5 three more times if successful. They'll come up with the next part of the plan once the Offensive Training Dummies are all defeated and/or the Spellbound Knight Armor runs out of mana.
Hyousei's strategy looks solid, leveraging defensive tactics and indirect control while maximizing the equipment's utility. Here's a quick confirmation and refinement:
Plan Breakdown:
Equipment Pickup: Hyousei equips:
Wooden Sword: Provides consistent damage output each turn.
Wooden Shield: Extra defense if an unexpected threat arises.
Battleflow: Turn Execution Steps:
Frost Over: Cast during the enemy turn to reduce all creatures' power (especially effective against artifact creatures like the dummies).
Sword Ability Activation: Use during combat to deal 1 damage to an attacking dummy, softening them or finishing them off.
Interfere: A contingency to counter any potentially dangerous spells from the Spellbound Knight Armor.
Resource Management:
Mana seems tight but manageable. Hyousei will rely on strategic use of their spells, using Frost Over's mass debuff to minimize incoming damage each turn.
The shield offers an emergency defensive option, though ideally, Frost Over will prevent most damage.
Inventory Clarification:
Current Equipments:
Wooden Sword and Shield (do not count towards the 5-item inventory limit).
Remaining drops (like wheat) can fill 3 more slots.
Would you like Thalor to pick any items or contribute differently to this strategy? Or is Hyousei ready to proceed solo?
@jpastor while Hyousei would appreciate Thalor's participation on principle, they don't anticipate it making the battle any quicker or simpler relative to proceeding solo. If Thalor desires to participate, Hyousei would give him the Wooden Shield and both Wheat as those are more suited to someone that actively attacks. (i.e. feel free to hop in, but I'm totally fine with and prepared to solo this fight with relative ease if you want to focus on upcoming irl festivities and such.)
@jpastor If you allow Hyousei to take boss on alone, he will take all rewards and exp to himself rather than Thalor (and Kuma, of course.) However, the upside to this is you won't be attacked, you still get rewarded from quests if it is completed.
@Cadstar369 jpastor @Mellow_MC From what I understand; Hyousei will equip DTD Shield and OTD Sword and he picks two wheats up.
However, Hyousei is ready to encounter the boss, but he waits for party members to join. (Kuma will automatically joins as soon as Thalor joins. Whereas, Kuma will be red rather than red/green.)
Cadstar369, you are able to encounter the boss without party members' permission, however, you will be denied for few minutes, so party members may have a time to response whether they will join or not.

My bad, I forget to include Hyousei's ability.
Understood, I will withdraw that out. Which leaves only two Offensive Training Dummies and one Defensive Training Dummy (And deactivated Defensive Training Dummy).
Good point! Let’s not waste that remaining mana.
Suggested Actions:
Hyousei could use that 1 mana to cast a defensive spell (like an instant) to mitigate the incoming damage or provide support. Something like:
This could protect Hyousei from the incoming attack or strengthen Thalor against #3 Offensive Dummy.
Would you like to cast something like this, or do you have another idea for that 1 mana?
