I'm back with another challange/contest. According to Nizzahon Magic over on YouTube, these are the worst mechanics of all time (I'm excluding banding and phasing for this challange):
- Soulshift N (When this creature dies, you may return target Spirit card with mana value N or less from your graveyard to your hand.)
- Rampage N (Whenever this creature becomes blocked, it gets +N/+N until end of turn for each creature blocking it beyond the first.)
- Cipher (Then you may exile this spell card encoded on a creature you control. Whenever that creature deals combat damage to a player, its controller may cast a copy of this card without paying its mana cost.)
- Ispired — Whenever this card becomes untapped, …
- Tribute N (As this creature enters the battlefield, an opponent of your choice may place N +1/+1 counters on it.)
- Amplify N (As this creature enters the battlefield, put N +1/+1 counters on it for each [creature type] card you reveal in your hand.)
- Bloodthirst N (If an opponent was dealt damage this turn, this permanent enters the battlefield with N +1/+1 counters on it.)
- Bolster N (Choose a creature you control with the least toughness or tied for least toughness among creatures you control. Put N +1/+1 counters on that creature.)
Deadline is the 13th of June. Up to three entries per person, all new, each entry with a different mechanic.
Rewards:
1st place - 4 phantom coins
2nd place - 3 phantom coins
3rd place - 2 phantom coins

Take that, Wood Elves!

Sorry about the bad grammar. It's a strange sentence.
Seriously why no phasing.

Not keyworded but uses Inspired.
I'm going to lead with a complicated multiplayer card first and then do a more simple one next.

This one was easier to finish first so I guess the simple one will come last.
Amplify the way we all wish it worked, any creature type applies.
1st place: Forced Benefaction by @Void_Retainer
Very cool white card with cool flavor. When a mechanic is quite underwhelming, just give it to everything! Putting two counters on each of your creatures would be OP, but this gives a choice to your opponent, which makes it more balanced, yet still powerful. You get 4 phantom coins !
2rd place: Korac, Stygian Scourge by @Jadefire
Another interesting use of tribute (for a multiplayer game at least). Now everybody gets a choice and the number of possible outcomes this gives you is epic. And the great thing is that you always end up with something good. Even if this ends up being a 4/4 for six mana, it becomes a one sided board wipe when id dies, which is super mean. This would be a very interesting (but probably quite hated) commander. You get 3 phantom coins !
3nd place: Vanguard Charger by @BT9154
Cool use of Amplify! This nicely balances out the fact that you reveal cards from your hand, because then you will be able to quickly play them. The only thing I don'tlike about this card is that the art is from a real Magic card, but other than that it's very interesting. You get 2 phantom coins !
But I need to mention some other cards:
Glade Whisperer by @pstmdrn got very close to the top three, so here it goes. This again gives you some options, which is cool. Interesting choice of putting soulshift on a non-Spirit creature though. You get a single phantom coin.
Omniform Brute by @Jadefire shows another cool use of Amplify in that you can just reveal any creatures from your hand. This gets @Jadefire another phantom coin.
Thrask, the Untamed by @Void_Retainer. I just have to talk about this card, because the design of it is so stupidly over the top it's hilarious. First I was very sceptical about an eight mana 2/2 but the more I think about it, the more I love the out-there design. The rampage doesn't do much here, since a 2/2 is usually just blockable with one creature - it would be interesting to let this have menace - but it's flavorful. And if someone doesn't get rid of this madman quickly, he's sure to make it everyone's problem. You get another phantom coin.
