Legends - Descendants (or All in the Family ) **Circuit Challenge**

First, I loved the Legends are (Re)Made challenge form by @Revan and all whose it inspired.
https://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/5615/legends-are-re-made/p1

I never found just he right but came so close I looking at these:

That I wound up making his many times great great grand daughter for my Dominaria Renaissance:
https://mtgcardsmith.com/user/mmm3creator2/sets/59522?page=2

https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/dread-adira-de-petrio?list=set&set=59522

Story -  I was particularly inspired by the Deathstalker series, which has parts taking place several centuries a part.   One of the legendary heroes of the first series is an old, long-time professional rebel known as Jack Random.  Centuries later, one of the heroes comes from the group known as "Random's Bastards", all claiming to be descendants of the heroic rebel of old.

Ramirez pirated around for a long time and given normal pirating habits and a few centuries there are bounty to be some by blows.   Now it seems the family tradition of piracy has continued.   They've cultivated an aura of fear, just like the Dread Pirate Roberts.   A little magical skill has made it into the bunch, with things like warding a crew being well known, and she can protect those who sign on from sea-witches hexes and the like.

Adira is known as a salvager.  Although she has to go pirating to get the funds to re-float things that have been lost.

Her crew keeps a secret from those signing on.  That the Ghost of their ancestor teaches them some basic  necromancy skills.  An once you are signed on, the first death isn't an out.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this contest is a lot like the first.    I would like you to make a Descendant member OG Legends [they can be found here [Legends - MTG Wiki (fandom.com)]

As his, the limit for entries will start at 10 cards, though I may increase that number at some point.

I will be judging based on the balance of the card (ie. how realistic it is) as well as how true it stays to the original flavor of the card. There will be a 1st through 3rd place, as well as at least one honorable mentions.

1st:  A Follow and 3 Favorites + 1 Circuit Point
2nd: 3 Favorites + 3/4 Circuit Point
3rd:  2 Favorites + 1/2 Circuit Point
Honorable Mentions: 1 Favorite a piece + 1/4 Circuit Point

There has been some discussion of interesting new prizes here:
https://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/comment/207839#Comment_207839

So in addition top 3 get 1 boggle.

Bonus for all - I plan to put almost all of them together in a "New Legends" Gallery, and archive it offline on Deviantart.  I'd like to say all but won't lie.  A card with hideous art, a flavor travesty, or mechanics monstrosity, will walk the plank as far as getting in the galley  is concerned.  But it will stay here and I will connect the Gallery to this discussion.

Example: https://mtgcardsmith.com/user/mmm3creator/sets/59918 - finding the cards was easy but assembling them in a coherent manner was a pain in the but.

This contest will run until the 1st of May, then it will close for judging.

Have fun with the hammer & tongs fellow smiths.

Jacques le Vert was a legendary human warrior who lived in ancient times on Dominaria, before the Brothers' War.
He abandoned his sword to return to the lush forest of Pendelhaven, his homeland, and devoted all of his life to protecting its creatures. His legendary battle against The Brute in front of the tree city was represented on mosaics from the College of Lat-Nam.
He was the first to bear the ancient Sword of the Meek, which has the ability to return from the graveyard.
Even if after the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria the lush greenery of Pendelhaven has withered, the Pendelhaven Elder still carries the ancestral mantle of Jacques and continues his mission: to protect the creatures of his homeland.

  • The kobolds of Kher Keep worship the great dragon Prossh as if he were a god. The core tenant of their religion, as it were, is to act in a way befitting of their deity—mainly pillaging, burning, and spreading terror in their wake. Indeed, it is believed that kobolds who live up to these ideals will be reborn as a dragon hatched from one of Prossh's eggs.

One day, Rohgahh had a new idea: the best way to be like his god was to become one himself. From that moment on, he assumed the role of tyrant, demanding tribute and sacrifice equal to what was offered to Prossh. Rograkh, Rohgahh's son, could not bear to watch his father pillage his own people. Not when there were so many other people they could be pillaging instead. His son now leads a resistance against him in attempt to return the kobolds of Kher keep to the path of "righteousness."

Rograkh's more savage older brother proved too unstable for the confines of Kher Keep, even before Rohgahh's treachery, and ventured out to escape the mindless worship of their dragon overlord.
  • Now a Circuit Challenge!

I'm not a valid entrant, buy I thought you should all know I discovered Eron the Relentless apparently did get off off Ulgotha at some point. At least one daughter is still around of course, because like popscicle she just isn't mortal. She happily enjoys annoys her crew to no end. She is the current Commodore of the Brotherhood of Castaway Coast Freebooters based in the Soutwestern sea off Ahzmandia's Outer Zone, set here: image https://mtgcardsmith.com/user/mmm3creator2/sets/59128
  • Based off Ayesha Tanaka:
    scryfall.com/card/chr/73/ayesha-tanaka

Ayesha was able to control and destroy artifacts with only her will. Her great-great-great granddaughter can control the artifacts as well, and is especially enlightened in creating Sol Rings.

    The descendant of Dakkon Blackblade.

"For long the black blade has been passed from hand to hand, each more undeserving than the last, I the rightful heir being denied of my own ancestor's possession and the sovereign rights that come with it. It is time to reclaim my power, and all who stand in my place will die before I give up that blade." - Raskar.

Now we know what happens when Gingerbrutes go bad...
  • Hakann Deathlock Wanderer

Centuries ago, before the Mending, Tuknir Deathlock wandered the Aether, looking for himself and others who might give him knowledge. Now his descendant Hakann does much the same. Although with the Mending travel through the Aether is no more, he still travels Dominaria, looking to create an era of peace and ensuring that those he befriends are notified of threats quickly.
  • I designed an ancestor of Gabriel Angelfire. I wanted to keep the idea of her having the ability to gain keywords, but I thought gaining the keywords of other creatures you control would be a good representation both of the WG focus on community, and the fact that she's meant to be leading the revival of the Church of Angelfire and needs worshipers to do that.
  • Manni Rubinias Student

Rubinia Soulsinger, as a fairy, has a life long enough to train generations of followers and aspirants. One of them is Manni, a young girl who was raised in an organization dedicated to Rubinia's values. The fairy noticed the young girl's talent for calming people, taking her under her wing and teaching her some of her ways.

    Here's my entry:

Note: I just started making custom cards let me know what I could do to get better. :)
  • @YouFoundJax

    1.  open (</>)

    2. change "Image alt"  "Image (width=N) alt." (Without parenthesis)

    3. Adjust image sizes to your liking.
  • I recommend making both your images width 325. But it's up to you.
  • For anyone may not not aware, the Samrai arts do include Kyūdō, the martial art of archery.  So @Jadefire giving Bushido with that art is perfectly appropriate.  Not everything is about swords.
  • Thanks for the verification @mmm3creator.  I just remember bows being one of the listed weapons for Samurai in the TV series Deadliest Warrior.  Here's a fan-made video ripping into how they got the facts on the show wrong:
  • Second entry:
    Rael Wauki Painting in Blood
Tor Wauki's great-great grandson was magically transported to Strixhaven by Extus, who plans to sacrifice Rael to the Blood Avatar.

@AboveAndAbout This feels a lot like a red/black weaker version of poison tip archer. Maybe you should adjust it a bit to fit the legendary title.

I made a card for this! It's a descendant of Sol'kanar the Swamp King.

    Here's my card: https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/daokanar-swamp-prince

  • Very heavy top-down design here
    From MTG Wiki:
Xira was also ordered to lure Tetsuo Umezawa to Argenti, for Overdark hoped Umezawa would die fighting against the rebels, making Overdark's position stronger. Xira did this by infecting Kei Takahashi with her offspring. Xira hoped that she could use her offspring against Overdark, who kept her on a very short leash, but Tetsuo and Ayesha Tanaka killed it before it could fully develop.
