  • The Elf seems to be amused, but shows no signs of amusement. Maybe it is something in his voice that makes you think so as he answers towards Raulus: "We didnt force you into the slums. We only rearranged the districts. The formerly nobles district is now ours and the dwarves, which is only fitting for the rulers of this town. You made a slum out of the district that was meant for your kind all by yourself. If you dont want to live in a slum, go and build something else there that is better. But i doubt that the creatures there are able to do that. And separating "monsters" and humanoids seemed wise and neccessary to avoid conflicts between those groups. So dont blame us for you living in a slum, when its your very own nature that has caused your district to become a slum."
    Then, looking towards Archie, he says: "I'm treating you with the respect that your group deserves right now. But that can change in the future if you prove that you are worthy."
    Then, looking at Raulus again, he speaks: "Whenever we "tricked" a dragon in the past it was necessary cause the alternative wouldve been bloodsheat and death of many. Remember, it is not us that likes to burn down everything."
    Then looking at everyone "But you are right. I dont trust you much, because i dont know you. And so neither do you. Therefore i will leave and give you some time to think about my offer. Should you want to speak to me again, come to the elves district and tell the guards there that you wish to see me. And as i promised, our conversation here will be of no ill consequences for you. We wont tell the dwarves about you and whatever happened between the dwarves and you in the fortress is between you and the dwarves. But hear my advice and stay inside and keep a low profile for a while. The dwarves will be searching for you. Fortunately, a group of adventurers is leaving right now this city by ship, together with a group of gnomes. Once this information has reached the dwarves, they will assume that you are gone and out of their reach."
    And then he stands up and leaves the house. The Elves on the street and the houses roofs are suddenly gone too and then everything is back to normal. More or less.
    A. - First, lets look after Eldric.
    B. - Lets ask Demonica for her opinion on this.
    C. - We adventurers must discuss this offer.
    D. - Something else....
  • Raulus starts looking around the house very carefully for any surveillance devices and/or enchantments and/or traps the elves left. (Option D.)

    You dont find any of these. But you unlocked an optional quest.
    Paranoia: Create a card with a mechanic that has to do with paranoia or could cause a player or a creature to become paranoid.

    EDIT: Optional Quests are for everyone. Each of you can create cards for such quests.

    That's most closest I can think of is this

  • Will be gone for 3-4 days.
  • Managing to tamp down his reaction to the defamation against dragons to a few angry twitches, Duucxejial keeps silent until the elves leave. What a shame that such a well-cultivated silver tongue is being wasted on the likes of that one.

    The dragonspeaker sighs at Raulus searching the area. Of course they aren't going to leave anything that obvious lying around. If they were that careless we would have detected them before. They're more likely observing us from a distance to gauge our reactions, though I can't rule out them completely ignoring us with their supremacist attitude. Regardless, this is shaping up to be a rather lackluster tale, so I'll leave this to the whelps for now.

    Duucxejial intends to spend time practicing his craft, but will remain available for discussion or other events.

    After searching the house for anything suspicious, but not finding anything, you gather again in the "conference room". Demonica and two of her rogues, carrying the chest with the loot, join too. As you look curious at her, she explains.
    "Its time to say farewell. No, not farewell, good bye, until we meet again. You have been most helpful and therefore i have decided that you deserve an extra reward."
    She goes to the chest, picks some items and lays them on one of the couches.
    "Now listen, because this is important. There are some rules i must follow, and so i cant just give away these for free. Here are eight items, one is for everyone of you and one is for Eldric. The remaining three i will take with me. Since Eldric is still sick and sleeping at the moment, you have to pick an item for him. But, here is the catch, three of those eight items are cursed. And you can only find out what an item does by equipping and using it. So, there is a chance that you will get cursed."
    She looks down. "I made sure the cursed items wont be killing you. I'm sorry but thats the best i can do. I like you, but theres rules that i cant break. And i cant give away things for free."
    New Quest: Chose one of these items. You will find out what it does once you equip it. If it is cursed you will not be able to unequip it. And choose one item for Eldric.


    A. - "Umm, thank you, i guess."
    B. - "Theres no way im equipping one of these!"
    C. - "Wait, can we test the items out on someone else first? Someone like ... Eldric ?"
    D. - "I will choose THAT item. Thats mine!"
    E. - Something else...

  • "Do we get any information about how useful these items might be or the severity of the curses, or do you expect us to play a game we're practically guaranteed to not win?"

    "Yes!", Demonica smiles.
  • Archie would stop for a moment when he were to equip Old Cloak, he says; "What do you expect from a demon? It's actually nice of a demon to gift us some equipments and informed us that some of them have curses." Then he resumes wears Old Cloak first then to rest others.
  • Remember: Each of you may only chose one item. You can NOT test all eight before chosing what you keep. If Archie choses the Cloak he cannnot chose any other item.

    so, by that logic, a character can try any number items before equipping them.

    Every player can chose 1 item. If the other players decide that Archie, Eldric or someone else tests their item, thats fine, but they have to decide that.
  • Duucxejial snorts. "How incredibly dull, though I suppose that is only to be expected with how events have progressed thus far. They're probably all enchanted with crippling curses and negligible boons, so let's get this farce over with."

    The dragonspeaker equips the Skull Amulet. "Shall I select one for Eldric as well, or does someone else already have one in mind for the whelp?"

    For your information: I will use a random number generator to determine which items are cursed, cause that seems to be the fairest. Therefore, right now, i dont know which items will be cursed or not.
  • From the players' perspective, using a random number generator at this point is practically equivalent to you choosing the cursed items directly, as it would be difficult to prove that you didn't reroll until reaching a desired subset of items.

    Note to self: Must remember that for situations where the GM becomes evil xD Seems like a  really good idea to spoil everyones fun.

    Should have decide that three of them are cursed and determine what are they before you introduce them to players. That way, you don't have to roll in name of random. ?

  • Waiting for kaoz42 to chose an item. Meanwhile you can select one item for Eldric.

    After chosing your items, first Archie equipps the old Cloak.
    And as it turns out, nothing bad happens, so this item is probably not cursed.
    New Quest for Archie: Create an equippable item named "Cloak of Shadows" that is able to give or remove shadow from the character that has equipped it until end of turn.

    Next the Dragonspeaker Duucxejial equipps the Amulett. And again, nothing bad happens. So this item seems to be not cursed, too.
    New Quest for Duucxejial: Create an equippable item named "Laughing Skull" that gives you 1 mana whenever an enemy creature dies.

    Then Rargh equipps the Pearl Ring. But as soon as he puts it on, the Pearl becomes bloody red and it becomes impossible to unequip the ring. Also your finger with the ring starts to hurt a bit and you can see dark veins under the skin in that finger.
    New Quest for Rargh: Create an equippable item named "Ring of Anemia", with shroud and indestructable, that puts a -1/-1 counter on your character whenever you cast a spell. But whenever an enemy creature dies those counters are removed and you get a +1/+1 counter instead. And it has "cursed - this item can't be unequipped".

    Now, as Eldric is sleeping at the moment, you could put the helmet on his head, to try it out, but if the effect or the curse is something you cant see, you wouldnt be able to tell if the helmet is cursed or not or what its effect is. Its also questionable if something at all will happen since Eldric idnt equip it himself.

    For Raulus, one of this items remains:

    A. - Lets wake up Eldric so he can equip the helmet.
    B. - Lets try the Helmet on sleeping Eldric.
    C. - Let someone else try the Helmet.
  • To clarify, are we being tasked with creating equipment that have only the specified effects, or may these items have additional abilities in addition to those specified? (If the latter, what other restrictions are there on this quest?)
  • Hmm, if you want more abilities, add one, but it has to be a very weak ability.

    So, let me get this straight.

    Cloak of Shadows grants Archie an ability to cause a creature become shadow while revokes creature out of shadow?
  • "Weak" has been clear as mud for 30+ pages. I'll toss this out there for adjudication:
