    If you have a pirate challenge, you can submit the card any time, even though the pirate deadline has ended. It will count toward the next deadline. I'm just glad some of you are giving this a shot!

    The art I found for this screamed for the Kaldheim showcase frame, so had to dip into a different tool to pull it off, but I hope this works!

    Encounter - Shadow Maw

    The Mystery Boxers are up against a Shadow Maw.

    Challenges will be crafted to defeat the Shadow Maw, but the Shadow Maw will fight back against the Mystery Boxers.

    Shadow Maw

    Shadow Maw by jpastor | MTG Cardsmith

    Appearance: A giant, amorphous mass of darkness with rows of sharp teeth lining its gaping maw.

    Abilities: Shadow Maw can envelop its enemies in darkness, blinding and disorienting them. It can also summon smaller shadow creatures to aid in its attacks.

    Weaknesses: Light is Shadow Maw's greatest weakness. It is vulnerable to attacks from sources of bright light, which can weaken and disperse it.

    Objective: Shadow Maw seeks to consume all sources of light and plunge the world into eternal darkness.

    Good luck taking down this formidable foe!

    @cadstar369 Can't your opponent just neuter the offensive potential of Nebula's Wrath by not damaging you?  Or is the intended use of it as an early game defensive tool to discourage attacking (and possibly to tip the scales in a racing situation) instead of as a late game wincon for a control deck once they actually have the board under control?

    @Jadefire Nebula’s Wrath is meant to be an early defensive piece. While its strength is completely dependent on your opponent, most decks can’t get away with not damaging you, so it should have something to do across a turn or three.

    @jpastor I made it the last number noted to keep with the retribution theme. (The theme was also the main reason for including white.) Holding on the greatest number feels more like an unending grudge (and also leads to less interesting play imo).

It emerged from the cosmic ether, a manifestation of the retribution of the universe against those who had caused harm. Its power was tied to the harm inflicted upon those who summoned it, its wrath unleashed in proportion to the damage done. As it soared through the skies, it laid waste to the Shadow Maw's minions and sought out the source of the destruction.

    As you cast Pressed Penitence, the Shadow Maw's presence on the plane caused a ripple in the fabric of reality. The spell resolved, and a group of spirits emerged from the ether, surrounding the Shadow Maw and binding its shadowy form in chains. The Shadow Maw struggled, but to no avail. It was forced to return to the shadows, unable to cast its dark magic for a time.

    @jpastor Hi, mate! I hope you're doing good! Life is what it is and things went a bit overloading for me at work those last months so I couldn't catch up with everything. Eventually I ended up letting mtg quite aside tbh.
