@Corwinnn the winning card doesn't even have a quote it's based on a scene and a song with a quote that's just a part of that scene.

"This card is based on a scene from a video game named Final Fantasy 9 where the main protagonist Zidane loses all hope after his purpose and true identity is revealed to him, but when he sets off alone to destroy monsters, all his friends arrive to aid him, one by one, and help him realize what he truly is. The quote in the flavor text is from that scene.

The card's name is based on the song which plays during the scene: You're Not Alone."

@Usaername Just poking in as an outsider, but it says right there that the flavor text is a quote from that scene in the game, yes? Possibly I'm just in that traditional mental state known as "not functioning", but I can't really see what your complaint about the card's aimed at as a result.

@Usaername - I read that part, I got it. I was saying I am not familiar if it's an actual quote from the game since I'm not familiar with the game. It clearly isn't from the song, but it doesn't say that it is, it says it's from the scene in the game, and the title is from the song.

In my mind, you both meet the requirements

(I'm not sure why we're discussing the validity of his entry, I first commented that I didn't realize the name of your card was the quote, because it didn't have the whole line. Once you wrote out the question that Palpatine asked Anakin, that was the moment I "heard" the quote in your card title. I hypothesized that ChoyBoi didn't realize it either when he judged the card.)

@Corwinnn I was trying to draw a parallel between the state of "Quotes" on Tenebris' card, which won, and mine which was disqualified. It seems Choy is long gone from this thread, so I dunno what I'm trying to accomplish, but I guess I just want to know why mine got disqualified

I am still here. Tenebris' card had a quote on it, however, I did not realize that yours did. Yours was disqualified because I could not see a quote, and I am sorry if I did not realize that yours actually had a quote.

Not that it changes anything, and even for clarification, but the challenge was to reference movies and books and who won referenced music and video games?

@CassZero ChoyBoi was asked about things like this a few times throughout the contest. There's a comment somewhere on the previous page where he says that quotes from games are allowed, and then another slightly later where he allows quotes from anything.
