I'm really not sure how they do it but, as you may know, there are trials in Amonkeht, so I think the masterpieces might be that people that compete in those trials (similar to how the masterpieces are all part of the Inventor's Fair).

Demonic Pact, Illusions of Grandeur
The pact makes a lot of sense to me, as one of the demons that Lilliana made her pact with "lives" on Amonkhet. (Side question: Are demons alive? Do they live?)
If a masterpiece went that direction, I'd expect it to be demonic tutor. Pact is a relatively recent card, and it's not really used in any formats, while Tutor is older, and relevant in eternal formats.
For all these trials and traps you think there would be upside oh wait now there is.

I tried to make the abilities unique and on flavor, powerful without being overpowered, and an ultimate that foreshadows big bad bolas.
