  • I know that info because it appeared on the tutorial of arena
  • @smax765
    Let me rephrase that;

    Your activatable ability is treated as if it's a spell. When activated, it's put onto the stack. You may activate it anytime as if you could cast an instant.

    You cannot activate ability to sacifice it as it is destroyed by a spell or damage from any source when they "resolves".

    Fighting are somewhat same as Attacking/Blocking, the difference is fighting creature attacks target creature rather than player itself. Fighting fails, if that target creature leaves the battlefield before it resolves. You cannot apply that logic to the combat step.

    The attacking creature that been blocked by a creature you control assigns combat damage to you, if that blocking creature was removed from battlefield by any meanings before combat damage is dealt (Before resolve).

    You can't sacrifice any creatures that been destroyed by combat damage after the damage step.

    @FireOfGolden @smax765 is correct, but their analogy is very wrong. Since players receive priority during the declare blockers step, after blockers are declared, a player can act (in particular do things like sacrifice blocking creatures) before moving to any combat damage steps, but this does not change the 'blocked' status of the creature(s) that they blocked. See rules 509.1h and 509.4 regarding the declare blockers step, then rule 510.1c regarding the combat damage step.

    509.1h An attacking creature with one or more creatures declared as blockers for it becomes a blocked creature; one with no creatures declared as blockers for it becomes an unblocked creature. This remains unchanged until the creature is removed from combat, an effect says that it becomes blocked or unblocked, or the combat phase ends, whichever comes first. A creature remains blocked even if all the creatures blocking it are removed from combat.
    509.4. Fourth, the active player gets priority. (See rule 117, “Timing and Priority.”)
    510.1c A blocked creature assigns its combat damage to the creatures blocking it. If no creatures are currently blocking it (if, for example, they were destroyed or removed from combat), it assigns no combat damage. …
  • @cadstar369
    So let me get straight to point.

    1) Not Panda declares itself as an attacker.
    2) Smax765 declares 1/1 sliver creature token as a blocker
    3) Not Panda becomes blocked by Sliver
    4) Smax765 sacrifices Sliver

    What happens on 5 step? Will Smax765 takes damage from Not Panda or Not Panda deals damage to dead creature after it's sacrificed?
  • edited November 2023
    As per 510.1c, Not Panda would attempt to assign combat damage to the creatures blocking it, but since there are currently no creatures remaining to do so, it assigns no combat damage and combat continues as otherwise normal. (Effectively, Not Panda does nothing since it doesn't have any relevant abilities like trample.)
  • @cadstar369
    So it's like redirecting a spell from creature to another creature and it becomes illegal target when that creature is removed from battlefield? Gotcha.
  • edited November 2023
    Blockings situations are actually very far from that analogy, since spells simply don't resolve when all of their targets are illegal, but blocked creatures can still be effective even when their blockers vanish if abilities like trample or abilities that care about being blocked are in play. In this specific case though, since the Not Panda has no relevant abilities, it does look similar to what you've described.

    You earned 8 exp, bear's claw, and a raw meat!
  • Would you like to keep 1/1 Sliver token?
  • I’ll keep mana
  • @smax765
    As you explore the forest, you would see a tiniest light coming from the distance as you could smell the wood smoke. You then walk to get closer to what is inside, however, you got stuck on something sticky. As you look closer, it turns out that it's a string - You been caught in web!

    You have two actions left before something on web notices you and approaches you.

    You may;
    - Cast Sliver's Strike on you
    - Scream for help
    - Do else...

    @kaoz42 @cadstar369
    Figure would goes in undamaged camp to sleep while Fen jumps onto its nest to rest. It is up to Ogam and Ugragos to determine who will stay up and watch the camp for first hour to prevent being ambushed by unwanted guests. If they prefer to sleep rather than guarding, then so let it be.

    For each party member, you may;
    - Sleep through night
    - Be on guard
    - Do else
  • Ogam will keep watch.
  • @FireOfGolden
    Ugragos meditates hard all through the night, concentrating on arcane knowledge.
  • @smax765
    Then I will be waiting for your response.
  • I’ll prepare and cast sliver’s strike on myself.
  • @smax765
    You used all of your mana to cast Sliver's Strike on you. A sliver token was created this way as you have one action left now.
  • I’ll also call for aid
  • @smax765
    Then you cry for help into the darkness. A shadow would arrives to you on the web - it sees you as its prey. As you take a closer look, it's a giant spider!

    Battle Report:
    1) All creatures that been summoned before the battle aren't affected by summon sickness. (They gain haste until end of turn.)

      1.1) 1/1 sliver token is already on the battlefield, hence, isn't affected by summon sickness.

    2) Tangled in Spider Web's effect doesn't end, hence, you must increase your power up to 3 to break freely. You remains tapped, however, because of your first strike, you will be still able to damage back.

    3) Your turn begins.

    @kaoz42 @cadstar369
    While on guard, Ogam could hear a faintly voice from the forest as Fen would brings its head up as it would looks at the forest where voice came from.

    Meanwhile, Ugragos was too busy with meditating. Ogam may bother him to bring him with them, or he may go to the forest alone with Fen.

    For Cadstar369 only;
    - Bring Ugragos with you
    - Hop into the forest alone (Fen will follow you)
    - Do else
  • Reminder:
    Deathtouch (Deals damage in -1/-1 counters to character and companion, remove these counters at end of battle. Any amount of damage dealt to a minion is enough to destroy it.)

  • I’ll throw my minion to attack the spider.

    4) 1/1 sliver creature token attacks
      4.1) Giant Nightcrawler takes 1 damage (1/2)

    5) Your turn ends as enemy's turn begins.

    6) Giant Nightcrawler attacks you
      6.1) It puts a -1/-1 counter on you as you deals 2 damage back to Giant Nightcrawler.

    7) Giant Nightcrawler dies

    Battle Result:
    You earned 4 exp and spider's leg.

    LEVEL UP!
    Add one mana cost to your existing character then choose one;
    - Increase your power/toughness by 1
    - Strength the existing ability
    - Add a new ability

    As for your spell, you may choose one;
    - Add a new common spell that costs for 1 mana.
    - Rank up a spell you control.
    - Increase a spell by one mana cost.

    You may overwrite your card to do this, however, color and race must remain same (Character only).
  • It's not a great idea to investigate unknown noises at night, so Ogam will continue to keep watch without leaving camp.
  • @cadstar369
    So, then you decide to stay camp and guard. Now that you heard faintly voice, what shall you do with that?

    - Ignore it.
    - Be on alert.
    - Do else.

    @smax765
    (Respond to this after you do something with your character/spells.)
    Now, that you defeated the giant spider, the light in distance is still there. What would you do?

    - Go toward light
    - Go away from light
    - Do else
  • Ogam remains alert.
  • @smax765
    Oh also, you may add another color to your character.
  • @FireOfGolden
    Meanwhile, Ugragos arises from his meditation and gets ready for a tough fight.

    Discarding a card (When discarding the number of cards, choose a spell you haven't chosen yet this turn. You can't cast that spell this turn. You may choose number of cards for companion, if it was targeted to discard a card. When an enemy discards a card, they may not cast it this turn. However, they may cast it next turn.)

    Drawing a card (When drawing number of cards, choose any number of spells you own. You can cast that spell twice this turn. If you already casted that spell this turn, you can cast another. If you already discarded that card this turn, you can cast another. You may choose number of spells for companion, if it was targeted to draw a card. This way applies for the enemies.)
