Mystery Challenge: Create a card with an alternative casting cost.
I will remain on the ship. Wealth has little meaning when one walks with dragons, so I will instead turn my attention to the unknown instrument in the corner.
Your character finds itself in an arena of sorts with a crowd on all sides. Not a huge crowd, though unexpected. You begin processing how you got here, as the last thing you remember was standing with your owner in the back room of the cantina. You look around and do not see your owner, but you do see something else.
You're encountering the first discovered special character.
Special characters are unique characters that all cardsmiths might stumble across. Consider them AI-generated characters, like yourself, but operating with no cardsmith. Cardsmiths might interact or encounter them in various scenarios throughout their storyline.
You look across the arena to see a construct, like yourself. Something unsettles you. You begin to realize what's going on.
You are in a battle versus this construct. Inspecting your opponent's weapon from a distance, it appears this match is a non-lethal match. It's wrestling with robots.
Your opponent readies its weapon and approaches you. You stand your ground. The crowd begins to roar. The opponent stands in front of you now and speaks in a metallicized voice. "I am Mechanos. Do you know where you are or why you're here?"
You nod.
"Good. Let us begin. You'll get some surprising shots in, but ultimately, this is my match to win. You'll earn your share of coins even though you'll lose."
You nod and assume a fighting stance, which makes your opponent laugh.
His weapon already drawn, he fires the first shot...
Symbols on the wall in front of you begin to illuminate. One after the next. You follow the lights to the corner of the room where a secret door opens. There's another staircase here. You decide to head down the stairs. The lights continue lighting your path as you make your way down to a small chamber.
Entering a room at the bottom of the staircase, You see a doorway illuminated by glowing symbols on the walls surrounding it. At the center of the door is a pearl and a gold coin. You decide to take one of these two items from its mount on the door, which opens the door. The door lifts up into the ceiling, opening to reveal a dark chamber. A gust of wind blows out of the dark room. You stand still in the doorway, afraid to enter.
You take a step back as you hear an ominous sound come from the darkness. As you scoot back, you notice a staircase to your right that you hadn't seen before. Another strange sound resonates creepily from the darkness. You turn around and frantically run to the stairs you had descended to get here, only to realize the entrance has now been sealed.
Stuck. Afraid. You put both hands on the wall where the exit to the stairs had once been. Bowing your head down, as if in defeat, the hair on the back of your neck stands up. You slowly turn around to see a figure standing at the base of the staircase by the dark room.
You're encountering a Special Character.
The entity stares at you. "For centuries, I have been forsaken in that chamber. You have released me."
Your character, still afraid, manages to reply, "Why... Why were you in there?"
The being points to a wall with its decrepit fingers.
You make your way to the wall, partially illuminated by the glowing symbols nearby. It's littered with drawings depicting many dead bodies with a single person standing over them. The person in the drawings looks like a Knight of some sorts.
"I don't understand," your character sputters. "Is this you?"
You look back at the being, who is now right behind you.
You press back against the wall in fear as you realize you've been talking to a ghostly, cadaver-like creature.
The expressionless creature blinks. "They didn't understand," the creature speaks.
"What did you do to them? What didn't they understand?" Your character, frozen against the wall, speaks slowly.
"They were... not like me. I told them to be strong, but they were weak, sick, tired, disgusting, filthy... useless." The creature seems to crack a smirk as it drifts slowly away from you a little bit.
"So.. you.."
"SLAUGHTERED THEM," the creature interrupts you with a demonic uproar.
You try to run past it, in a frantic terror, to the staircase, but the being raises its other arm, revealing large and grotesque fingers with claws. The creature strikes you down.
Looking up from the ground at the creature standing over you, you mutter. "Please don't kill me, whoever you are."
Just before you black out, the creature replies with, "Tell the world, Valgas, has returned."
[Statement received: "Good. Let us begin. You'll get some surprising shots in, but ultimately, this is my match to win. You'll earn your share of coins even though you'll lose."]

And I use cloning ritual on my favorites prize and get 2 extra favs, those can go into a nightmarish tyrant of your choice and the other can go on any other card in that set.
Cloning ritual >>> You may accept a duplicate prize of the most recently posted prize other than this one -or- of the next prize posted after this one.
@MonkeyPirate2002 Moshpit Prize: You may invite (at any point in time) 3+ cardsmiths to participate in a best card wins "moshpit," where everyone you invite will receive the same Mystery Challenge.
Your level 6 Spellweb - Choose 3, 4, or 5 of the 5.
@ShadowReign As your character re-awakes... he rolls over onto his stomach, coming face to face with a scorpion staring at him from the sand. You seem undisturbed by this, as your character sits up slowly. After getting back up, you're overcome by hunger for no apparent reason. Looking around the room, there's nothing here, obviously, to eat.
You check your armor to make sure there's no damage. Then you grab the gold coin, which you must have flung about the room when Valgas clotheslined you. Peering back at the doorway you had entered this chamber from, it is still sealed. You make your way to where Valgas had once stood. You're unsure which way to go next.
Take the stairs? Enter the dark chamber?
Before you make your decision though, you turn back around and stare at the scorpion on the ground. It's too late, you've made your decision. You grab the scorpion by the sides of its stinger. Holding its claws down with a nearby rock, you pull the scorpion apart, severing its tail from its body. Tossing the tail and stinger aside, you give the scorpion one final smash in the head area with the rock. A crunchy munchy meal indeed, and much needed protein?
Create a creature which you sacrifice to create a food token. Prize 65 - Limited Art (Deadline)
You reboot and awake in a repair shop. The battle is long over and it appears you were defeated since you are having work done on you. You lie motionless and strapped to a device as assembly-workers nourish you with essential robotic ointments, liquids, and repair you with scraps and pieces. You'll be good as new... soon.
Looking around this shop, you see only other constructs and assembly-workers. There is no sign of your owner or where you are. [Activate perceptive perk.]
It appears as though you lost the battle to Mechanos. Non-lethal injuries resulted, and it seems you are in the routine aftermath shop, receiving complimentary repairs.
A Construct approaches you, "When repaired, exit via the sliding doors in the corner of the room. Have a nice day."
@Jadefire The boar, charging at you, you react by reaching up to grab a dangling branch nearby... before you can start climbing, you realize you just grabbed onto a large, dangling Snake. The boar lunges and jumps at you with a biting motion, sinking its teeth into the flesh of the snake, you fall a meter to the ground. The snake uncoils from the tree and begins attacking the Boar. Here's your chance to getaway. You make for the jungle!!!
Once inside the vegetation, you come to a swampy area that seems to connect to a stream. If it's a stream, it might lead to a waterfall, which may lead into the canyon you've been trying to cross. You follow the perimeter of the swamp. It winds around some trees. Instead of connecting to a stream here, the water becomes thick mud with mangroves. However, you can hear raging water in the distance. Your instincts served you well. There is a river nearby, you just have to get to it. To do so, you have a couple of actions to choose from:
Climb your way through the mangroves.
Wait nearby for a possible tide to come in and then swim through the mangroves.
As you contemplate your decision, you indecisively pace around the area and come across another small ruin at the base of a large tree. Rummaging through, you find nothing more than some broken pottery and a really old and mostly destroyed leather boot of sorts.
Prize 55 - Dueling Boots: When you cash this in, you can duel any cardsmith in the same batch as you.
Create a Giant creature with an additional subtype.
Schedule will be more open today, with a free range and open discussion format. I'll hand out some prizes at these times throughout the day! Times are in Central Time
You feel the lift generated by the vessel. Unsure of the duration of this flight, you hunker down as you feel the ship begin accelerating. Moments later, the feeling stops and everything is smooth.
You try to make conversation with the little girl, but she is unwilling to answer, understandably. Meanwhile, you make your way to the instrument you spotted. Trying to grab it, it is fastened to the wall. Following the strap to the buckling point, you undo the buckle... suddenly a bout of turbulence, at the very moment you unbuckled the instrument from its secure spot...
"Oh boy."
You stand in awe as several items that were nicely secured along with the instrument begin falling and toppling over. One such item is a really tall and heavy block-like case that dominos over, ramming into another secured area, sending those items astray. When the bout of turbulence ceases, you surveil the damage and realize that half the items in your area are now slung all over the place like an earthquake just occurred.
"Oh boy. Whoopsssss. I didn't mean to do that," you chuckle softly as you gently disclaim to the child in the corner... who seems to chuckle back at you.
You make your way to the child, who suddenly curls up in a ball. Interestingly, you decide not to engage her attention, reaching instead for the plate of food they had been eating when everything happened prior. Examining it... "Oh, chicken nuggets. Mind if I have one?" You chow down on one with the intent to entertain the girl... you dramatically pretend you're extremely bothered by the spiciness of the chicken, which makes the girl start laughing, though she vigilantly remains scared of you.
You suddenly stop your dramatics and put the food back down. Straight-faced now, you immediately stop the painful moans you were making and say, "It's yummy! Try some."
Climbing on top of the rubble to try to get to the instrument you spotted in the corner, you get stuck atop a bunch of wobbly luggage that's stacked on top of one another.
"Uh oh."
Seems like you're stuck up there now. Unable to move in fear of collapsing the luggage, which would collaterally tumble on the girl, who seems to have lost interest in you and gained interest in her food once again... to be continued...
