  • LordTachanka123, sorry, but why?

  • Because every one knows that he will win the contest/
  • I'm just gonna stop at this point. My ramblings just don't get to him.
  • Scaccogaming No, you just don't get the points for the challenge. At eliminations the person with the least amount of points gets kicked out.
  • So I'm guessing that means there will be multiple challenges before an elimination?
  • @LordTachanka123 Yeah, there will be like 2-5 normal challengers then an elimination challenge
  • Does lore count for points?

  • Oh, that's nice.
  • Lore with the card for a challenge counts, artist credit and lore outside of the card for the challenge are used as tiebreakers.
  • @KorandAngels @Aggroman15 @Fallen_Lord_Vulganos @DrakeGladis

You still have a couple days, but just a reminder.
  • Wait, is there a contest??
  • Yeah, what is your character doing in their free time on a card.

Oh. Why didn't anyone tell me?
  • I made a card:

  • Janti went home in a rage, understandably. Janti probably wouldn't be able to send back any communication now, but that didn't matter, as the council was probably going to exile him, as the chances of him winning were quite slim.
Before Janti got inside, he heard a noise behind him.
Quickly turning around, he saw nothing but a leaf falling.
Someone's watching me Janti thought to himself. He was no fool, and was trained in the art of subterfuge, his species preferred manner of victory.
Quickly slipping inside, he activated one of the 3 spells he knew. Well, he didn't actually know three, one was part of his blood.
The windows started to display false images of him eating a small bowl of some food. He was actually locking his door and slipping a note with a message only Jazmyn could read.
All of a sudden he heard footsteps running off, and then a knock on his door.
Dispelling his spell, he opened the door, sword at the ready, only to be surprised by one of Tenguin's enforcers.
"You are being placed under arrest for charges of murder." The man told Janti.
"For murder?Murder who?" Janti almost being caught off his guard.'
"The murder of Sir Jenson Tiy, merchant, last seen with you, in which you hit him in-"The soldier, who clearly hadn't read the decree before coming, was shocked at what he saw.
"You hit the man where? Have you no honor?"The guard asked him.
"Fools." Janti sighed, and then without resistance decided to join Tenguin in his quarters.

KorandAngels, write some lore about how this is apart of your downtime.
  • @LordTachanka123 please, for the love of all that is good in this world... Stop it. This is NOT a Saga, I said it numerous times, stop posting text walls that are not relevant. NOBODY ELSE aside from you is doing such a thing, you are the only one posting roleplays nonstop, just STOP IT. How many tiebrakers do you f*ing need man? We had to make ONE card and that's it, you made FIVE cards with four of them being irrilevant. If you want to write a story so much, make a rpg Saga for yourself, but don't flood the contest thread, because all of these cards are spam.

I don't want to be rude, but I told you this several times, and I just lost it.
  • Scaccogaming, that was his first comment yesterday. He is a very active writer.
  • @The-DM That's not an excuse for ignoring the rules. Being an active writer doesn't mean that you MUST write a ton of lore for trivial reasons. What's the point in that, making the thread derail towards Janti's story? Trust me, it's not gonna happen my dude. Do you want him to be more likeable or something like that? Spamming cards and textwalls ain't gonna help, that's for sure.
Just, please. I don't mean to be toxic of all things, but he is completely ignoring the numerous calls. I already explained enough and don't want to repeat myself, otherwise I'll just spam cards in order to make every other contestant look like absolute sh*t regardless of the contest at hand.
  • Honestly, I do agree that the multiple story posts everyday is a bit excessive, what I find more annoying is that every time I log on to the forums to see if someone posted if a contest is ending or for other important info, I have to sort through at least 15 messages just from this thread, most of it being Janti's lore. I also the lore writing is unnecessarily excessive as I want to have a chance in this, but I don't really have time to put up five or six huge chunks of lore about my character everyday, after all, it only helps in tie-breakers, meaning an extra one or two tidbits of lore should be sufficient . Might I recommend keeping the lore  to a minimum here, but enter Janti into a saga (or make your own), so that you can still constantly make lore for him where large amounts of it are expected, or perhaps make a card set where Janti is one of the main characters, then just add in story cards for the set.
  • @Abu_Jafar Exactly! So there IS someone agreeing with me, that's a relief honestly.

    Scaccogaming,

Don't get me wrong, I do agree with you as a writer. The off topic writing is very annoying. However, that was his only post that day. I do have to admit that it is a bit unessential, but again it was his first. I have talked to him privately, and hopefully, with my help, he will be able to reduce the amount he posts each day.

    Thanks, The-DM

Also, that post wasn't done, because I fell asleep while writing it.
  • I will do my best to not post more than 1 story a day.
  • Lets just settle this by introducing a new rule.

Limit story posts to a maximum of 1 per day, and 3 per challenge. This does not include the story on a card, or story related to a story challenge.
  • "The announcing of the contestants went about as well as I could have hoped.  I didn't actually expect to get this far, but why not?  Neviad, what is the reaction of the people to this?"
The pirates meeting was taking place in a small antechamber in the far left wing of the palace, close to the library.  In attendance was Neviad, the second and third mates, and the ships doctor, who was the only one with university training.
"Well, captain, we haven't done any sort of survey, but the betting tables are already being set up, and you are currently ranked as 6th.  I also feel that it is worth noting I agree with this, as we are heading up against actual royalty and demons, not our usual admirals and governors."
"Your opinion is noted, Neviad.  Mr. Stiggs!  Mr. Arstin!  Send the crew out to mingle.  Have them spread rumors and do what it takes to get the population to at least not revolt if I do win.  I don't want a civil war when I come out on top."  Derain turns back to Neviad.  "This is a contest about kingship.  Individual power may matter, but having a demon rule would be far worse than me, and the judges have got to see that.  There will be a chance to meet the sponsors, and while my blade and my throw are proficient, I need information.  Get me the names of the other six sponsors and anything else I can use to gain leverage."
The doctor cleared his throat.   "Captian, with all due respect, your usual methods of motivation will not work here.  Charm, not fear, is your friend.  These men will not be intimidated by you knowing the names of their children and their tutors.  However, if you can persuade them that you are more rouge than scoundrel, you might have a better chance."
Derain seemed to chew on this for a second.  The doctor was probably right, he mused.  Most of the time, when he was interacting personally with authority figures, he was holding a sword to their throats, or once, sitting in her chair using her secretary as target practice.  Either way, he was in a clear position of power.  This was the opposite.  While his treasure store was vast, if the kings of neighboring realms needed sponsorship, he would probably run out of funds without someone helping support, and if he was to take this competition seriously, that lack of funds would be just as much of a threat as a black spot pinned to his pillow with holy writ on the other side.
This inscrutable silence held for a full three minutes.  "Very well, Doctor.  You are right.  Neviad, I will still want that list, but it doesn't need to be as threatening.  Doctor, I will need you to help teach me to be posh enough to interact with the damn bluebloods without offending them.  And Stiggs, Arstin.  Make sure that the mingling doesn't become violent.  Anyone misbehaves, its to the brig with them for a week."

  • Beautiful writing, @DrakeGladis !
  • continuation of the story line i have started.

After meeting with Harveth, he decided to mingle with the kind of people he used to know and could easily win over to his side, the farmers. He walked to the edge of the kingdom and went to talk to the farmers over in the fields.

    "Need any help?" Harveth asked.

The farmer looked stunned, he stuttered.

"Do you know anything about farming!?"

"Well, I have lived in and watched in fields, my entire life..."

"Well, I guess I could use some help." the farmer said.

So, for the entire afternoon Harveth helped the farmer and his crew harvest plants, and even taught them some ways to make their job easier. After the day had ended, the farmer said to Harveth

"I was worried when I first saw you go up for the competition, but now working with you, I feel you could be a great leader and truly help us peasants. I will put in a good word for you with the other farmers and people in our village."

Harveth thanked the farmer, he had never really received a compliment from anyone other than Adam. He knew he had to find a way to live after he completed his duty. He decided to go back to Blackleth to help Adam with the zombies, and to scour through the old arcane library.

    @pjbear2005

'Fortune, fame, glory... those indeed seem pointless, aren't they?'
The demonic sovereign smirked while she was sitting in a tavern. Despite of the murmurs and silent prejudices of the townsfolk although no one dared to approach the odd pair of half-demon and a lich.

"H-here's your food and drink, m-milady." The female servant approached still and forced a smile as she placed the meaty soup, bread, and a mug of ale. Then she slightly bowed and awkwardly left.

"Ah, ordinary food. Oh how I miss this." Still elegantly sat, she took a piece of the bread and sipped the foamy ale.

Her old confidant who was sitting in the shadow of the corner in front of her while examining a history book of Riyin cracked a smirk.

'Surely this is a... refreshing change, isn't it?' Answered the old lich via telepathy.

'In addition of those spies from the other kingdoms that are currently watching us, it is indeed refreshing. Could just smother them away with several tendrils of agony or maybe melt their brains with some blightning spells. But that would be very messy, isn't it.'  Remarked the female half-demon to the lich. Knowing the intent of the people around her was an essential power to survive in such environment for an accomplished dark wizard like her. Getting indirect hostility was already nothing but a brisk of the wind.

From a normal perspective, Lyse was currently eating in silence, albeit in addition with some occasional smirks.

'Nobles, pirates, a spirit stuck in a scarecrow, even an animal spirit, all aspiring to sit on this kingdom's throne. Indeed this is all holds no meaning for us, but still that's a nice bonus if we somehow get the throne of this pitiful kingdom.'  The old lich flipped another page of the history book.

'Pitiful maybe, but it's a fun endeavor and you cannot deny it, you old coot.'

    The old vizier only chuckled.

'Hah, maybe we could hire a jester too from around here in addition, I mean a living one.'

'And torturing the poor soul for a very long time? Oh how fun indeed.'  Lyse silently chuckled as she finished her meal.

'Never change, kiddo. Never change.' The old vizier smiled and shook his head as he continued his reading.
